First Methodist Church is scene of
Herrington-Miller wedding vows
On Friday evening, June 5,
at eight o’clock, Miss Patricia
Herrington, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. 0- Herrington,
and Carney Miller, son of
Mrs. L. O. Miller and the late
Mr. Miller of Climax spoke
their wedding vows before an
assemblage of friends at the
Firsit Methodist Church.
The impressive double ring
ceremony was performed by
the Rev. Al Clark, of St. Sim
ons, South Georgia Confer
ence youth director.
Mrs. Y- L. Roberts, organ
ist, played the beautiful nup
tial music and accompanied
Mrs. John Drake, Jr., who
sang “Thru’ the Years” and
as a prayer of benediction, **o
Perfect Love.”
Mr. Gill Miller of Hunts
ville, Ala. served his brother
as best man. Ushers were Bill
Miller, brother of the groom,
and Ben Hill Strickland of
Climax.
Mrs. Harold Cumbie of
Gordon, Ala. cousin of the
bride, was the matron of hon
or. She wore a dress of light
blue taffeta with -a shade
darker blue overblouse. Her
light blue nose veil fell from
a small circlet of blue. She
carried a bouquet of frenched
pink carnations.
Little Miss Carrol Cumbie,
also a cousin, served as junior
bridesmaid. Her dress was of
the light blue taffeta with a
fitted bodice and a full skirt
with a white organza over
skirt. She also carried a bou
quet of the frenched pink
carnations.
On each side of a lighted
cross against a red velvet
dossal were tall white
wrought iron vaulted nine
branched floor candelabra
with burning cathedral cand
les flanked by large palms.
In the center front was an ar
rangement of large white
mums, glads and pompom
chrysanthemums. On each
side of the altar were spiral
candelabra with the burning
candles. On each side were
crenelated baskets of the
white mums, glads and pom
pons.
The bride entered with her
Mr. and Mrs. Carney Miller A
brother, Buddy Herrington,
who gave her in marriage.
She was radiantly beautiful
ina bridal gown of white silk
organza which had a fitted
bodice with a scalloped neck
line of French Alencon lace.
The skirt fitted at the waist,
billowed into a chapel train-
Appliques of lace were on the
skirt. Her only ornament was
>a string of pearls, a gift of
the groom. She carried a
white prayer book surmount
ed with a white cattelya or
chid and showered with white
satin ribbons 1 and frenched
carnations.
The Reception
After the wedding, Mr. and
Mrs. Herrington entertained
at a wedding reception in the
social hall of the church.
Mrs. Wallace Drake played
soft music. The guests were
greeted at the door by Mrs.
Grady Richardson, Miss Sue
Reynolds kept the bride s
book. Mrs. Julian Webb in
troduced callers to the receiv
ing line-
Receiving with Mr. and
Mrs. Herrington were Mrs.
Miller, the groom’s mother,
i the bride and groom, the ma
tron-of-honor, and the junior
bridesmaid.
The tea table was covered
with a satin cloth with a
white net overlay.. In the cen
ter was a tall silver five
branched candelabra with
white candles. At one end was
a silver punch bowl from
which Miss Rose Dutton serv
ed punch. At the other end
was the four-tiered wedding
cake, a gift of a cousin, Mrs.
Horace D. Hall of Ashford.
The beautiful all white cake
was festooned with a diagon
al swag of white roses and
leaves. On top were two spun
sugar wedding bells with the
rose clappers- The round cake
was placed on a square .o f
white satin with net ruching.
The cake was cut and served
by Mrs. John Cummings 1 .
Also assisting in serving
were Mrs. Lewe Johnson, Mrs
Ed Miller, Mrs. Don Romine,
Mrs. John Hanna, Mrs. Ken
neth Reynolds, Mrs. Billy
Richardson, Miss Erin O’Neal

Honors Program.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Wurst,
Dee and Patrick enjoyed a
leisurely camping trip to New
jYork and the World’s Fair,
and visiting Mr. and Mrs.
John Priest in Connecticut.
While at the fair they were
haipny to “bump in to” Mr.
and Mr- J. B. Clark, Mr. and
Mrs. Jabo King, and Dr. and
Mrs. Robert Starling, and all
enjoyed having lunch togeth
er.

Miss Faye McDonald to Wes
ley Parker Brown, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Foy P- Brown. Both
are residents off the Desser
community.
The wedding will be sol
emnized at the Salem-Semin
ole Baptist Church on Friday
evening, July 17, at 8:00 o’-
clock.
No invitations are being
mailed. Friends and relatives
of the couple are invited to
attend. The reception will be
held following the wedding at
the home of the bride-

For the occasion, Mrs. Her
rington wore a dress of jAflk
Uace with a fitted bodice and
a sheath skirt with a little
jacket- Her corsage was of
pink carnations. Mrs. Miller’s
dress was of blue lace, which
had a fitted skirt and a lace
jacket. Her corsage was of
white carnations.
The couple left for a wed
ding trip on the Florida coast.
I For travelling, the bride wore
a pink suit with white acces
soriesl.
On their return, they will
be at home on Collier Street
in Bainbridge.

I last week on a trip which
promises to last until the mid
dle of August. They are to

and Mrs. Grady Richardson,
Mr. and Mrs. Lewe Johnson,
and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dut
ton entertained Miss Herring
ton and her fiance at a dinner
at the lovely Richardson
home on Lake Jane-
The table was covered with
an exquisite white imported
cut-work linen cloth. In the
center was a footed silver
bowl Which held an arrange
ment of white snapdragons,
lilies, daisies, gardenias and
Queen Anne’s lace. On each
side silver three-branch
ed candelabra with burning
while tapers.
Guests invited included Mr.
and Mrs. C. 0. Herrington,
nprents of the bride-elect;
Mrs- L. O. Miller, the groom’s
mother: Mr. and Mrs. Reuben
Reynolds. Jr., sister of the
vroom; Mr. and Mrs. Bill*
MiTer, his brother; Buddy
Herrington, brother of the
bride and Miss Rose Dutton.
The couple was presented a
piece of their chosen crystal.

country colonial home of Mrs.

rimed bowls of small pink
and white flowers.
