OBITUARIES
Mrs. Sol Dupriest
Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon in the
chapel of Evans Funeral
Home for Mrs. Sol Dupriests,
81, who died Friday afternoon
in Escambia Hospital in Pen
sacola; Fla.
Mrs. Nola, as she was af
fectionately known, was the
daughter of the late A. B. and
Jannie Weeks. She was a
member of the Baptist church
and was born in Marion Coun
ty in 1883- She was married
to Sol Dupriest who preceded
her in death nineteen years
ago.
The Dupriests moved to
Seminole County in 1910. Fif
teen years ago she moved to
Pensaloca, to make her home
with her daughter.
The funeral was conducted
by Rev. B. A. Rakestraw and
Rev. Daniel Mobley- Inter
ment was in Friendship Cem
etery with Evans Funeral
Home directing. Active pall
bearers were Earl Harrell,
Rayo King, Leroy Dutton,
Douglas Harrell, Walton Haw
kins and Leroy Singletary.
Suriving are a son, Roscoe
Dupriest, Donalsonville, two
daughters, Mrs. Ethel Batson
and Mrs. Amzie Lenander,
Pensacola, two sisters, Mrs.
W. W. Beard, Morgan, Mrs.
Mary Eva Turner, St. Peters
burg, and four grandchildren.
Mrs- Myrtice Perry Drake
Funeral services for Mrs.
Myrtice Perry Drake, 67,
were held Thursday after
noon, June 4, at the Colquitt
Baptist Church. Rev. G. Guy
Walton, pastor, officiated,
assisted by Rev. Hamp Wat
son and Rev. S. T. Shutes. In
terment was in the Colquitt
City Cemetery.
Colquitt and Miller County
and business men of
Colquitt formed an honorary
escort, and members of the
W.M-U. attended in a body.
Mrs. Drake, a native of
Iron City, had lived in Col
quitt for forty years. She
was the daughter of the late
E. S. and Sally Powell Perry
and was the wife of Miller
County.attorney J. A. Drake,
mayor of Colquitt. She died
at Miller County Hospital aft
er an illness of eight years
following a.stroke. She was a
member of Colquitt Bap list
Church. ,
Survivors include her hus
band Jesse A. Drake, three
daughters, Mrs- Edwin Hest
er, Mrs. Richard Spancake
and Mrs. J. 0. Shepard, Jr.,
Colquitt: a brother, Tom
“Blink” Perry, Atlanta; three
Mrs Eiila Rabon, Mvr
tle Beach, S. C., Mrs. Pauline
Lord. Valdosta, Mrs. Hazel
Ivey, Albany, six grandchild
ren and a number of nieces

graduation exercises at the
Jesup High School when John
Haynes received his diploma-
They were overnight guests
of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Haynes
and John. Mrs. Haynes is the

candidate with an agricultural background.

Georgia Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association, possess
ing both legal knowledge and legislative experience to formulate laws of the
United States-
ft He is 39 years old and young enough to gain the vital seniority necessary to
become a more effective spokesman for the Second District in the House of
Representatives.
ft He is a veteran of World War 11, having served six months in combat in Italy,
and is now a Major in the Air Force Reserves.
ft He is fully informed on our national defense problems today for as Staff Direc
tor of the United States Armed Services Committee he had top secret clear
ance and participated in Committee hearings and legislative action on the floor
of the Senate.
