Rusty McCosh is tops in design and
speed at annual pine wood derby
Cypress Park was the scene
recently of the annual Pine
Wood Derby presented by the
Cub Scouts of Seminole.
There was a large assemb
lage of parents, friends and
Scout officials, forming the
cheering section. At least one
first place entry was won by
Den two, that of noisiest!
There were twenty-one cars
entered. The cars were carved
and made by the boys and
their fathers.
Receiving honorable men
tion for artistic design were
Wendell McLeod, Mark Rich
ardson, Birrbo Collins, with
Rusty McCosh winning in de
sign.
Winners in the race were:
Rusty McCosh, first place;
Ed Hay, second place, and Joe
Drake, third place-
The first place winner re
ceived a knife from C. D.
Thomas Hardware. The sec
ond place winner received an
underwater mask from Thom
as 10c Store. The third place
winner received a flashlight,

After the race, everyone
enjoyed a delightful picnic.
Everyone left the picnic look

Dean G. R. Boyd of Troy
’State College has released the
names of 76 students who
won academic honors at the
college during the spring
quarter.
i Frank Daniel Rosato of
Donalsonville made honorable
mention.
Broaddus Simpson, who re
ceived his A.B. degree from
Mercer University in June,
has since remained in Macon
where he is employed- Broad
dus has just written his
'mother, Mrs. Ed Miller, that
he has passed the examina
tion making him eligible to
'attend the Air Force Officers
Training School and is await
ing his call. Broaddus plans
]to return to Mercer after his
service duty and complete his
studies for a law degree.
HOMECOMING, REVIVAL
AT UNION BAPTIST
Homecoming services and
the beginning of revival serv
ices wiil be held Sunday, July
19, at Union Baptist Church.
Revival services will be
held daily at 11:00 a.m. and

O’Neal spent Wednesday at
Calloway Gardens with Mr.
and Mrs. Don Wasson of At
lanta, who were vacationing
there for the week. Mr. Was
son, assistant city editor of
The Atlanta Journal, made it
a profitable vacation as the
cottage was free and he was
paid by his 1 former employer,
Mr. Howard Calloway, to do
some private reporting for
him during the sixth annual
masters water ski tourna
ment which Was being held
there.

LOCAL PEOPLE INJURED
IN AUTO ACCIDENT
Friends here were distress
ed to learn of the automobile
accident in which Mrs. Mayes
Sutton of Jakin and Dr. and
Mrs. H. C- Harris of Pelham,
former residents of Donalson
ville, sustained injuries on
Saturday.
The accident occurred near
Cochran, Ga. as a result of
heavy rain and slick roads.
Mrs. Sutton is suffering
from a broken ankle and cuts
and painfull abraisions and
bruises. Mrs. Harris, her sis
ter, has broken ribs, a broken'
clavicle and a deflated lung.
Dr- Harris suffered shock. All
are patients at the Macon
General Hospital in Macon.
Their many friends here
I look forward to having them
, at home again soon.
