Alice Higgs, of Savannah, for her kind wishes for the Monitor. Hersolntiou of Ihe April Fool puzzle was correct. It came too late for last week’s issue. —We very much regret to learn that Master Douglas, little son ot Hon. Vv. T. McArthur, was quite sick during the | first few days of this week, so much s<> \ an to prevent his father's attendance ui j yo-. rt. —The. Democratic Executive Commit- ; toe of Montgomery county had r. meet ing Tuesday, ami called a meeting oi the party, to be held on the first -Mon day in Juue, to select delegates to the gubernatorial ami congressional conven tions. —We understand tlmtourdistingnisb ! eil mid able fellow coiiuty-m u, Jud :< Mcßae. who has been favorably m -n --tioned in connection with the congres sional nomination, is not only not in aspirant for that honor, but is an advo cate of the claims of McArthur. —Montgomery Superior Court is in session this week, Hon. C. C. Kihbee, Judge of the Oconee Circuit presiding, w ith his usual grace and ability. It is understood that it is the intention of his honor to hold two weeks, taking up the criminal docket next Monday. We no tice among the visiting attorneys the following gentlemen: Cols. C. Adams, the efficient cousthle of the court rcom this week, has our hearty thanks for the finest lot of radishes that we have seeu. Three to the tb—pretty good for April. But wej should like to kuow how lie found out that we love radishes like a methodist preacher loves fried chicken. —We would invite the attention of the reader to the law card of Col. D. C. McLennan, of MeVille in to-days paper. Also that of Col. Alfred Herringt >u of Swavuesb. ro. These gentlemen arc both a.-ell of ability and standing in their pro fession. A man who is not too stingy to i advertise is not apt to swindle his client in regard to fees, and deserves to succeed —as he always does. —Our good friend John D. McLeod, paid this office a short call on Tuesday. We believe his numerous friends in this county have “almost persuaded” him to enter the Senatorial contest. And wo are of the opinion that when the voter, are counted, and the returns begin to come in from Montgomery, the man that heals John D. will be i-caied 'til he j wont’ grow any more until 'die next elec- ' t ion. —The editorial fraternity is well rep- j resented here this weeK. b e have ln- ti j called upon by brother, lluivu of tea Eastman Times, brother Burton, of the ! Godf.v’s Ladx’s Book for May opens with a pretty engraving entitled “Re- ! 1 turning Home.” A quaint picture that; causes a smile when we note the discom fort caused to the party by a day's ( picnicking in the. woods. The serial, 4I A Core-net of Thorns, by J. A. Prich ard, continues in interest.
