Iu fact he beats them all alike. Judge A. C. Pate has been mentioned as a probable candidate for Represen tative of Pulaski eonnty in the Georgia legßilatnre. —J)uhlia Pont. Well. Con ferenee on Saturday. We hear the name of onr friend John N. Miller of Lotkair favorably mentioned as a man suitable for Tax Collator. —The Sunday School at Adamsville appointed their delegates to the oounty Sunday School Association, last Sunday. The Masonic funeral ceremonies at the grave of Mr. Alexander Johnson will be celebrated next Saturday. —Col. W. F. DeLacey is spoken of as a can didate for the senate in his district. His bril liant talents eminently qualify him for the po sition, aud we hope to see him eleelod. —Read the card of Col B. B. Cheney, in to day's paper. He is every way competent and qualified to do justice to the cases in which lie may be employed, having integrity, legal acu men, and natural ability, iu an eminent de gree. —The County Bnnday School Association of Montgomery county meets Saturday week at Spring Hill. Our Sunday School has not ap pointed delegates as vet,, but it is not too late. It should be attended to next Sabbath. —Some of our correspondents will be disap pointed at the non appearance of their articles this week. They are crowded out in common with sohie of onr own editorial matter, on a subject of great importance. But these things will keep. —We had the pleasure of listening to a beautifully eloquent sermon at the Presbyterian church in this place last Sunday night hv the Rev. Sam. T. Smith, of the Methodist church. —Mr. Sieley Williamson who lives near Long Pond in this cofitity. had his stable burn, crib and all Ids outhouses, de stroyed by fire on Tuesday, with all tlieir contents. The fire was accidental. —Messers. M. D. Hughes, Alexan der Morrison and Thomas J. Conrsey, were appointed by the Grand Jury at its recent session ns members of the Board of Education of Montgomery coru.ty. —Messers. Gabriel M. C. Clements of the 39-ith Dist. G. M. and John W. Clements of the 393rd Dist. G. M. of this county, were recommended by the Grand Jury for appointment as Notaries Public for their respective districts. —Tube Jackson, the Cartersville dy namiter, was captured litst Week in Waco, , Texas, but escaped from the officers by jumping tiit-etigh the car window, at Chattanooga, Election of Officers. \ j The following officers for the etlsulng j i quat ter were elected by Star of Hope j ' lodge. T., to-morrow night. j Sashes are very largely imported, and j are found in some guise on most of the i cotton dresses. They are used in con trasts of color that seem exaggerated to plaiu tastes, such as blight scarlet satin ribbons on dark blue, sateens, or somber brown watered ribbon on plain pink mull dresses. (Jody's Lady's Book. Bounds made eutirley of ribbon loops ire pretty trifles, but rather more costly , than they seem at a first glance, for the j ribbon is remorselessly cut, and is sewn j to the foundation regardless of quantity. However, they may be made cool by using a thin lining, and they ore not neur as heavy its many varieties of straw. Gody’s Lady’s Book. Book Notice. Goiikt'r Lady's Book for May opens witli a pretty engraving entitled “Re turning Home.” A quaint picture that j causes a smile when we note the diseom . fort canned to the party by a day’s picnicking in the woods. The serial, “A Coronet of Thorns, by J. V. Prich ard, continues in interest. A bright story entitled “Hastings)’ Retreat,” by Euphremiu Kaye, shows various glimpses lof character well drawn tip. The reader is anxious to see how it will end, the conclusion being promised in the next 1 issue. Several good short siorics appear j iu the hook, among which is “Miss Den ning’s Episode,” by Robert C. Meyers, | “Sister Ann,” by luoChurchill, “Mary's j Wedding,” by C. Leach, a Memorial , day poem by Marion P. Wheeler, and snorter poems by George Birdseye and others. The colored fashion plate gives a faithful iliustratiou of the new shades to be adopted for spring costumes; the numerous fashion pages giving plenty of designs for making tip different fabrics into Esater wardrolies. A pretty colored work design for a tidy, after the popular Mikado, aud nntnerons other illustra tions, complete the Dumber, which can not fail to please the severest critic. Kibbee is one of the most efficient Judges now upon the Georgia bench. During term of the court just closed here, he has made a final dis position of the following number o? cases, viz: Civil actibns 64. Criminal cases, 16. Total, 80. Since Judge Kibboe’s appoiutmeut iu January 1885, b 6 has, in three terms of Montgomery Superior court, tried and determined 137 civil cases and 48 crim inal eases —a total of 185 cases.
