Z. liuah, and sub scribed to by all the members. 3. Prayer by J. M- Smith. 4. Presentation of Bible and charge, hy J. Z. Bush. 5. Recognized ns a church, hy the presbytery extending the right hand of fellowship. J. M. Smith Moderator. J. Z. Bush Clerk. Seward. The hardest rain we ever saw, fell in this section on Saturday tho 10th iust., washing fields and roads terribly; since then wo have been having very pleasant weather. Road hands have been haviug a very hot time, tilling up the wash-up. Dr. J. E. Mobley’s mill was also badly damaged bv the heavy rain. Bro. Smith did not meet with tho peo ple at Wax Hill, as was anticipated, and the protracted meeting was therefore a failure, and the people badly disap pointed. The sick children of this neighbor hood are getting better, but Mrs, A. J. Moselv is suffering awfully with cancer of the mouth. The Altamaba river lias been very full again, and much damage has been done to the crops along the rivi r by tho Hood. Some, T hear, are totally ruined. Mr. H. B. McNutt has tho. best field of corn that we have seen in this section. Bass always makes good crops, wet or dry. Mr. A. A. Moseley is furnishing the people hero with all the cat-fish they want. Alex, is '« good hand to catch them, and he doesn’t fail to tlo it, either. The beaver pond, where two Adonises expected to have so much sport next full, seems to be deserted, as wo haven’t seen any sign of them lately. I. H. 11. Red Bluff. A week or so of dry weather will be of great benefit to tho cotton crops, an cotton has Icon badly injured in tins put of the country, but we hope Hit fai mors will make enough to pay lor the guano. This certainly has been a great sum- j incr lor ihe timber men, as the liver lia boon lip so they could scud timber to Darien almost any timo during the pad 1 tour months, and timber has brought ;i good price all the tunc. Tile river Inis been so full for Ihe past two weeks, that Loud Sr. Ben not could not ship lumber. They will ship several hundred pieces ol fine sawed timber in a few days, if the water fails so they can go iu safety. Mr. Charles Williams is now getting out shingles lo cover bis new house at the Bluff. The workman will commence in a sow days, and thou the next thing in order will he for Charlie to limit up a housekeeper. But then she may be al ready picked out, and maybe wo will get some cake, yet. The only fault we find to “Scrap’s” j Fortner dots is that they are not long ! enough. [They are just tho light length—K(l.) Weure always glad to see the Fortner news. We will put Red Bluff against any place we know for vegetable peddlers. We have a visit from one almost every day, and all seem to do well. There has ticca a heap of sickness about Ki'<l Blnll tor some time p... t, but we are glad to learn that all arc getting better. B. A: C. Tile Girl of To-Day. New Orleans .States. The girl of to day is u busy, useful worker. She is generally proficient in r.eedle work. She can not only alter her own dresses lint cut and make those and her nu-ter clothing ns well.
