Beautiful Snow.
lt is generally conoeded that gleet is not so i
truly beautiful as enow. —Atlanta ContriiUUion.
Ah yes! That may be admired on general
principles. And there may not be much attract
iveness in a long gray tag of ice dan-ling froth
the eaves on the north side of the house. But
the Constitution m&n never dull have writ;cn
the above if he had been with us on Tuesday
morning at .unriso and beheld the enrapturing
scene that presented itself to our view. The
ice hung from the magnolia leaves, and dangled
from the twigs of the cypress and the bay. The
long gray mo#3 that hung in festoons from the
tall live-oak, was matted together with an icy
cement. As the sun rose upon a cloudless sky,
its rays glinted among the tags and halls of ice
upon the twigs and leaves, and bedecked the
brow of the- young morning with a halo of gl>, -y
comprising all the colors of the prism. Th re
were mvriaas of brilliant sparkling diamonds,
bigger than the koo-i-noor; there was the deep
green emerald, and the pale grass-green hid
denite; there was the brilliant yelow topaz; the
deep red ruby; the sky-blue sapphire; and the
rich purple amethyst. And a« the slight breeze
gently stirred the branches, the same icy gem
would take on the colors of all, m turns.
But it was too sublime to last, and the air
was too cold to enjoy it while it did last. If
yon went in to warm, yon would lose it, and if
yon stayed out you’d freeze. That was the
them benosth the rose.

A VTurdtoCandi ates.—
Some of yon have failed to appreciate tbo j
importance of an announcement iu your home
paper, thinking you might squeeze along with
out it, and maybe get elected. Well, it may bo
that you will. That’s your business, lint you
will havo to have tickets, you know. You can't
possibly be elected without votes. And you
can’t get votes without tickets. You want to
have them with your owu namo printed in bold
letters on them, so that your friends can see* it
at a glance, and I now that the*v are voting for
you. You can’t expect to bo elected on other
candidates’ tickets, for the pooplo would find
out that you were trying to sponge your way
into office, and drop you. People don’t admire
stinginess in ” candidate*. They like to see
him whole-souled and liberal-minded. You
don’t want to elo that anyway, oven if you
could. You are compelled to have tickets. Wc
are prepared to print them tor you as neatly and
as cheap, as you can get it done anywhere, for
the* cash. And wc do not believe that tliero is
a candidate for any office in tin* county, who is
so dead to his county’s interest, as to send his
money off out of tho couuty for his tickets,
when lie can got them done just as neatly and
for the same money at home, thus keeping the
monev among his constituents. We solicit the
patronage of every candidate* in the* ouu;.v. ►
