Dr. H. 11. Sasnett, the genial apd
gentlemanly traveling salesman of Bleiti

side of her husband Mr. Henry Simpson
who was quite sick at that l ime, but we

—Mr. Blontgomery M. Folsom, the
gifted correspondent aud agent of that
sparkling and newsy sheet, tlie Atlanta
Journal, was in town yesterday, ‘‘plying
his avocation.” Blr. Folsom is one of
the ablest and most interesting writers

the most poteu> instruments iu shaping
the events and forming the opinions of
the people of this day and generation.
—Mr. C. C. McAllister, of Mcßride,
seDt us yesterday a couple of pear twigs
that for a heap of fruit in a little space,
would be hard to beat. One twig had
ten good sized pears on it, iu a space
ot not quite three inches. In the other
case there were 9 in a space of two and
» half iiches. We did not learn the
name of the variety, though from tlieii
looks we sLould judge them to be the
Bartlett.
—At the Oconee bridge, on the Sam
road, on Tuesday forenoon, Boss Blor
rison, a workman on the bridge, fell
from a “Jack” 56 feet into the river. In
his descent he struck the cross ties of
tne railroad 26 feet from the starting
poiut, and lower down he struck a biace
under the bridge. He was at once res
cued from the water by the workmen,
iu an insensible condition, and Dr. Blor
rison, of this place, wav summoned to
his side. He was necessarily badly hurt,
but was alive and getting aloDg fetter
than was to have been expected, at I i-t
accounts. Mr. .Morrison is a soil of Mr.
Alov Morrison s r.. of 'llenwood, who is

the county, and one of oui most promi
nent citizens.
