was ruined, and he had to plow up
and plant again. The storm was not
general, as it did no damage here or

Tlie Court Is Thanked.
1 Judge Roberts and Solicitor De-
Lacy are being praised by our peo
! pie generally, for the manner in
| which i hey dispatched the business
i of the court. A great many old cases
that had been on tlie docket for years
were either tried or dismissed. Every
body is satisfied except the guilty
and the jury who tried J. Q. Curry,
| the man who killed Mrs. Ruck at
Higgston, a few weeks ago. This
jury certainly thought they were do
ing right when they acquitted Curry,
| but tlie Judge didn’t think so, and
i condemned their action in very
i strong language. If Judge Roberts
is kept on tlie bench of the Oconee
j circuit, blind tigers will soon be Un*
| known, and crimes of all classes will
l,e greatly diminished. Solicitor
Do Lucy is an able lawyer, and man-!
j ages the State’s business splendidly.
He is a bard worker, and gives gen
eral satisfaction to our people.
The grand jury got through with a
great deal of business, and a number j
of true bills were found. Their pro-j
sentments will be found in another
column.

A Curious Eg;;
Mr. Marvin Flanders of Iledville,
j brought us an egg, last week, of a
new pattern. It had no shell, but was
done up in something like buckskin,
and to one end was at tached an ar
rangement which the lien probably
intended for a handle, made of a
substance resembling paper. We do
not think her henship lias applied
for a patent on this new style of egg
as yet.
