Mrs- S. D. Walki’r, who has been
at a Sandersville sanitarium for the
past several weeks, returned home
Wednesday much improved in health.
Rev. S. D. Walker reports that
the protracted meeting at Kibbee this
week is progressing nicely and that
much good is expected to result.
Mr. and Mrs. James Reece of
Amerieus spent several days here the
past week, guests of the latter's sis
ter, Mrs. T. B. Youmans.
Mrs- L. J. Shuman and children
of Statesboro are guests this week of
the former’s aunt, Mrs. I. D. Stew
art.
After spending several weeks with
relatives in the city, Dr. J. O. Haynes
left last week for his home in Jack
sonville. He was accompanied by
his nieces, Misses Allie Mae and Erna
Haynes.
Mr. J. Wilbur Davis, a well known
singer on the. vaudeville stage, is the
guest of his brother, Mr. P. E. Da
vis, week- Mr. 'Davis was a
guest at the Kiwanis luncheon Monday
evening and favored the members of
the club with two beautiful selec
tions.
Miss Arlie McLeniore entertained at
an elegant six o’clock dinner Monday
evening complimentary to Mr. Frank
Schumpert of Columbia, S. C., who
is visiting relatives in the city. Cov

Mr. J. W. Linder was called to
Willacoochee Saturday by^the criti
cal illness of his mother, Mrs. Martha
Linder. Mrs. Under 'died §unday,
funeral services and interment taking
place Monday. She had reached the
ripe age of 85 years and was the
daughter of Major James Hicks, a
prominent citizen of Johnson county.
She is survived by two sons, J. W.
Linder of Vidalia and C- D. Linder of
Willacoochee.

MISS ANNIE WICKER
HONORS VISITORS..
Miss Annie Wicker entertained at
an elegantly appointed breakfast on
Thursday morning at the Dixie Hotel,
honoring Mrs. W. A. Chapman and
Mrs. G. M. Wicker of Macon.
Later bridge was played at tw'o ta
bles, prize for high score, dainty hand
embroidered pillow cases, going to
Mrs. N. C. Napier. The guests of
honor were presented with beautiful
boxes of powder.
ENTERTAIN AT
WATERMELON CUfTING.
Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Willbanks
entertained a number of their friends
last Friday evening at a watermelon
cutting on their farm on the Mt. Ver
non road- The party motored out
from Vidalia, and tables had been
placed in a beautiful moonlit spot
in the woodland back of the house,
where the feast of melons was 'en
joyed.

ENTERTAINS CLUB.
Mrs- W. M. Lewis entertained the
Salmagundi Club Wednesday after
noon. Tables were placed on the
verandah, which was artistically dec
orated in mid-summer flowers.
A number of out of town guests
were present, including Mrs. G. M.
Wicker, Mrs. W. A. Chapman and
Miss Azilee Austin. Following the
game the hostess served a delightful
salad course.

ENTERTAINS.
Mrs. A. F. Fanning delightfully
entertained the members of the Ep
worth League at her home on Wed
nesday morning of this week. The
introducing of each guest with a pic
ture of herself as a child furnished a
good bit of amusement. Other games
and contests were enjoyed, after which
a delicious ice course was served.
The out of town were Mrs.
Bowen of Cordele and Mrs. Forbes
of Ocilla.
