TOOMBS TAX RATE“"
REDUCED THIS YEAR
COMMISSIONERS OF ROADS AND
#
REVENUES AT MEETING ON
MONDAY FIX TAX RATE AT
$lO PER THOUSAND.
Although there has ben a decrease
in tax values in Toombs county, the
Commisioners Os Roads and Revenues
at their regular monthly meeting at
Lyons on Monday of this week in
fixing the tax rate for 1922 were able
to make a considerable reduction in
the rate as compared with last year.
Taxpayers in Toombs this year will
be required to pay $lO per thousand
county tax, $5 per thousand state tax
and $5 per thousand 'school tax, mak
ing a total of S2O per thousand. Last
year the total rate was $24 per thous
- and.
i Tne commissioners anticipated that
] the city court, which has ben a heavy
’ expense the past year, would be de
feated by the voters of the county in
the referendum Wednesday and that
‘ on October Ist this drain on the county
treasury would stop. With other
economies in county matters which
they have effected, they felt it would
he possible for the county aaffirs to
be administered on a total' tax rate
of $lO per thousand, as compared wi:h
sl4 per thousand last year.
