Notwithstanding the extreme
drouth in Crisp county of ten week’s
duration, 9,000 bales of cotton have
so far been marketed at Cordele.
There has been more or less dis
cussion about the killing of quail at
this time of the year. At the first
cool spell, the hunter is threatened
with a desire to kill the feathered
tribe- The game season for quail
does not open until November 1,
not October 1, as is supposed by
snnie.
Under, the law recently passed by
the legislature, which is now in ef
fect, all pistol owners are required
to register with the ordinary and
secure a license. It is a misdemea
nor not to do so. All persons who
wish to own a pocket weapon should
go at once to the ordinary’s office
and investigate this new law.
Atlanta citizens are worrying over
the constantly decreasing size of the
bread loaves. A strte law, fixing a
standard weight for loaves, is want
ed.
Morris Brown college, the negro
educational institution in Atlanta,
has raised $29,200 for the school.
Tobacco growers in south Georgia
are out with the syndicate,
At a recent meeting of the board
of education of Morgan county, it
was ordered t.hm. the white public
schools in the county open on Mon
day, October 31, and that the col
ored schools open on November 28.
P. B. Bush, attached to the staff
of Revenue Agent Suber, destroyed
in Rabun county four large copper
stills and a quantity of beer. No
arrests were made, but warrants
have been sworn out for the alleged
operators,
