Sanders, the jeweler, was pulled
off at 7:00 o'clock sharp Christ
mas night.. Mr. Lem Powell
performed at the drawing by
knocking a hole in the end of
the box containing the stubs of
the original tickets and pulling
out one stub. .
The-number on the stub Mr.
Powell pulled out was “1230”,
and Rivas held by S. R Blanton,
the Progress Man, who, there
and theh accepted $50.00 in cash
in place of the diamond ring.
Mr, Blanton had purchased $18.50
worth of jewelry from Mr. San
ders.two days before the draw
ing for Christmas gifts, and was
very much surprised to find that
lie was the holder of the lucky
number.
Mr Sanders says that he has
had a splendid trade all through
the holidays, and he deserved it,
as he has the most up-to-date
jewelry store in all Southwest
Georgia. ... ... . , .

over. • Dr. J. G. Kincaid was
elected Mayor and Mr. J. L.
Fuller, Councilman.
The boys and girls, who have
been attending the schools and
colieges have arrived home, for
the holidays. They were hear
tily welcomed, and a number of
entertainments will likely be
given during the week.
There were no church services
at Pine Park last Sunday, rain
prevented services of any kind.
A number of young people
spent Shnday afternoon at Miss
Fannie Ballard’s home.
. Miss Myrtice Cochran is visi
ting her mother, Mrs. S. L. Bal
lard at this plrce.
We learn that Miss Clara Bell
Latimer will attend Columbia
colleue at Lake City, Fla., dur
ing the spring term.

Florida, but, nevertheless, having lately
complied with section 3116 of the Civil
Code of Georgia of 1910 by filing with
the Clerk of the Superior Court of said
county of Grady, an authenticated ex.
amplification of t he order of the County
Judge of Lt-on County, Florid*, appoint
ing your petitioner as such guardian, as
well as an authenticated exemplification
Of the letters oi guardianship issued to
him pursuant 10 mid appointment; and
alBO by filing with said Clerk of said
Superior Court the bond required under
said section of said Code, thereby be
coming authorized under the laws oi
Georgia to make this application, which
is made and presented in petitioner's
representative capacity as guardian
aforesaid,
2— -Your petitioner desires to sell for
re-investment the following property of
aaid minors, to-wit: A 2-6 undivided
interest in all < f the pine timber suit
able for either saw mill, cross ties or
turpentine purposes, on the following
lands, situated in the 18th District of
-aid county of Gia-ly, to-wit: lots Nos.
189-212-213-228 and 253; and also upon
all that portion of lot 188 in said district
and county that the children of the late
Mrs. Mary Walden Alford, deceased
now have title to. Raid timber to he
conveyed under a lease for the. period of
seyen years from January 1, 1913, or for
such other period, longer or shorter, as
petitioner may deem advrntageouB to
said minors, said tracts containing in
the aggregate 1,600 acres more or less.
3— There is very little cleared land
upon the lots aforesaid, and said land*
are yielding no income; it is wise and
for the best Interest of said miners that
said timber be now told for the purposes
aforesaid, while there is a good market
for the sam**-and*-in- order, that aaid
land* without the torn of said Umber
may de cleared for farming pnrpwea 0>
that the soil itaslf may yield some in;
come for the benefit of a*dd ward*.
4— Petitioner prop osea to invaat the.
proceeds of said sale in capital *toek- Of
the Citizen* Bapk of Cairo, Georgia, a
conservative, safe and prosperous bank
ing institution, w.hich yields to it*
shareholders liberal dividends each year,
but petitioner prays the authority to
invest the proceeds ot aaid sale in the
stock of some other corporation,or in any
other property that he may deem proper
and most beneficial to his sail wards.
5— Petitioner desiies the power to sell
said property at private sale;to fix with
the purchaser snch terms, and to make
and execute such instrument, lease
other contract as he may deem proper
in the transaction.
Wherefore, your petitioner prays for
the power and authority to do and per
form the acts and things above men
tioned.
