PEP
By Percy Quittie Head.
A little trip toward the south,
A compliment from critic’s mouth.
A little practice on a field
To Bhow the stuff that each yield,
Is pep.
The baseball bugle shrilling clear,
Calling the anxious fans to cheer,
Their home team to the victor's seat
Or monk the other to defeat,
Is pep.
And opening at the old home park,
A hitless game from two till dark,
A costly error, one or two,
A home run ere the game is through,
Is pep.
A lucky steal, yes, once or twice,
A'neat or nasty sacrifice,
A double or a tliroc-bnso hit
That gives the rooting fans a fit,
Is pep.
A little doubt, a little fun,
Before the snappy game is done,
A sweeping swat by Tyrus Cobb,
That holds the rooters on the job,
Is pep.
A little l.unt, a little bing,
A daring stunt, a dc. pi rate sting,
Pull’d by some star who goes to’lmt,
Seeking the lofty throne of swat,
Is pep.
