Eoiiiteiliii Fair To
Be 'Held id Atlanta
Atlnntn, l!u., Aug. 17.—The
wonderful growth of the live stock
industry in the South, rspeeinlly
Georgia, will he demonstrated at
the first annual fair of the South
eastern Fair Association, October
14-21, inclusive. The need of
something to replace the single
crop cotton was shown a few .years
ago when the boll weevil began to
make its ravages in the great cot
ton producing States. That, the
cattle and hog industries have
proven t he most advantageous sub
stitute will he illustrated by the
exhibits at this Fair. The Moul-
irie section, one of the first in
Georgia to recognize the value of
live stock, is prepaiing t« send
mammoth exhibits of lho work
being done there.
The management, through Mr.
R. M. Stripling, manager, has of
fered nearly $7,000 in prizes in the
swine department and 810,000 for
cattle. Among the former will be
a futurity guarantee by the Ameri
can Duroc Breeders Association,
for which $400.00 will be offered.
The greatest, nchiovmont in the
cattle department was made when I
the American Royal Live Stock ex
hibit, of Kansas City, the West’s
greatest Live Stock show, was se
cured. Eighty solid car loads of
thoroughbred stock will be brought
to Atlanta from this point, alone.
The Georgia House of Represen
tatives, by resolution, joined in by
Representatives from every section
of the Stale, commended the Fair
management and invited the peo
ple of the country to come and
send exhibits. Morris, of,Cobh;
Yeomans, of Terrell; -Dickerson, of
Clinch, Rcdwinc and Harris, of
Walker, introduced the Resolution.
The great night features of the
Fair will be the horse show and fire
works display. The finest slock in
the South will he displayed at the
horse shtw.

tions arc that four or five additional
counties will complete the work
during the year of Ittlti.
The general improvement of the
rattle in the released territory, as
well as the increased market value
of such cat tle, is mainly responsible
for the rapidly spreading sentiment
in favor of lick eradication work.
More than 200 dipping vats have
been established in the tick infest
ed area in which the work of tick
eradication is not in progress dur
ing the year 101(1, and many enmi
ties are urgently soliciting state and
federal aid in the eradication of the
cattle tick.
