Odd Missouri Pacts.
That the highest point in Missouri
*» but 1-800 feet above the level of
the sea is one of the many interest
ing topographical facts discovered by
those who examine the large relief !
map of that St^te in the Model La- j
brary in the Missouri State Building i
at the World’s Pair.
This “mountain” is iron known by
,
the ras ; dents of the county as Tom
suck, i j
and from its point radiate the
different, geological formations of the |
Central Mississippi Valley.
Another interesting disclosure is
the evident route traversed by the
Missouri River in past geological
ages. In the north contra! part of the
State the Missouri’s present course
deviates from the northeast to the
southeast. By the map can be seen
the logical continuation of its s course
from the western border of the Slate
to a point between where Hannibal
and the Iowa State line are now situ
ated, which geologists declare was
the original confluence of the Mis
souri an! Mississippi Rivers. The re
lief map also shows that Missouri has
lands below the river level.

To Steady Steamships.
To lessen the rolling of steamships
in a s.a an interesting device has
been designed by Herr Otto Scblick
a German naval architect, and con
sists of installing a rapidly rotating
fly wheel in the hold of the vessel.
This involves making use of the prin
ciple of the gyroscope familiar in the
toy sometimes known as the Archime
dean top, vvhere a fly wheel whose
weight is concentrated near its cir
cumference is rnoimted in gimbals
SO that it is free to rotate in any
plane, Herr Scblick proposes to j
mount a fly wheel carried on a v.t
tical axis in a frame which is sus- j
pended rn a horizontal axis trans
verse to the length of the vessel. Hie
whole mechanism being placed at the
bottom of the boat. To rotate the |
fly wheel with the necessary high i
speed* electric motors or steam tin*
binea would be employed. There
I ■ would be hydraulic brakes and band
I brakes to restrain and regulate the
■ motion of the fly wheel when neces
sary. The effect of the rapidly rotat
ing fly wheel is to develop forces that
would oppose the oscillation of the
| vessel, making it slower and reducing
I its extent materially. An elaborate
calculation was made of ihe size and
i weights of Sl jch fly wheel, and Herr
Schlic-k has ascertained that for a
j 0 _ :er of 1 > 000 v methic tons (5,905.5

Ovaritis or inflammation of the ovaries or fallopian tubes which adjoin the
ovaries may result from sudden stopping of the monthly flow, from inflamma
tion of the womb, and many ether causes. The slightest indication of trouble
with the ovaries, indicated by dull throbbing pain in the side, accompanied
by heat and shooting pains, should claim your instant attention. It will not
cure itself, and a hospital operation, with all its terrors, may easily result from
neglect. Dear Mrs. Pinkham:
u loan truly say that you have saved
—
my life, and l cannot express my gratitude to you in words.
u Before I wrote to you telling how I felt, I had doctored for over
