Park, Fla., was a visitor in the

of Susina has been a guest in
the city for several days, re

Mrs. W. A. Peterson and
children of Mt. Vernon reached
the city Saturday to visit the

for the holidays.
Mr. D. C. Maxwell of Lime
Sink and one of the leaders in
Decatur of the new county move
ment was in Cairo Wednesday
attending a meeting of the gen
eral committe.
Hon. C. A. Monroe, Ex-Rep
resentative from Decatur, and
now a solicitor tor the Atlanta
Constitution and Journal is
making Cairo headquarters for
the next week or two.
Rev. L. W. Colson the new
1 pastor of the Methodist church
! has reached the city and is now
I at home at the parsonage. Mr.
1 Colson comes here from Shell
man, and will find a welcome
and hearty support among the
people of Cairo.
The money order receipts at
the post office here for the last
two weeks has been the largest
in the history of the office, a
sure sign that the people are
prosperous and intend to enjoy
the holidays. Now is the time
to subscribe.

ty- This is probably the only
opportunity that we will have
to get one and its up to the peo
ple in this territory to see to it
that the opportunity is em

Mr. J. N. Butler of

A meeting of the
Committee on the organization
of the new county was
here Wednesday at the
Hall and well attended.
Committee is getting down
hard work now and has already
begun circulating petitions
among the different districts in
Thomas and Decatur which
will go to comprise the county.
Very satifactory reports were
made by the various sub-com
mittees, and the prospect of
obtaining the county seems to
improve daily. The next meet
ing of the Committee will be
held in Cairo oil the 2nd Wed
nesday in January, the i ith, and
a large attendance is expected.
The oyster dinner and supper
given by the ladies of Cairo in
order to raise a fund for the
purchase of a new piano for the
school proved quite a success
financially, over sixty dollars
being raised. We understand
the piano will be purchased
soon and will prove a valuable
addition to the music depart
ment.
At Home Again.
Prof. W. M. Searcy, who has
been teaching a very large
school at Tunnell Hill, Ga.. for
the past term, is at home with
his family for the hoiidays. The
good people of Tunnell Hill
must have been treating

all glad to welcome the
