The National Democratic Forr
vention met in St. Louis V\ ednes
day to nominate for president.
Woodrow Wilson was unanimous¬
ly chosen again as the standard
bearer of the party without a jar,
but for vice president there was
some opposition to Marshal but
he was nominated and the ticket
will be as four years ago. The
Democrats could not have named
a stronger ticket and the Repub
licans, though they have a good
man as their leader, will have to
do some walking about to beat it.
Charles E- Hughes, Justice of
the Supreme Court,of New York,
was chosen by the Republicans in
convention at Chicago last Satur¬
day as the nominee for president
of the Republican party and
Charles W. Fairbanks.of Indiana,
for vice. Hughes is a very con
servative man and if we are go

the strongest of the two

We appreciate your paper and the
news from the correspondents
throughout the county and since
you are new-comers among ns, we
desire from time to time to tell
you, and your many readers some¬
thing about onr splendid district—
Cartecay
In the early settlement of the
county, the first settlers built
►p'endid churches and had good
schools, a circulating library and
many newspaper readers. Carrecay
has always been, and today holds
its place as, one of the best coun

The weather this spring has h-en

growing crops and gardens, which
have i.een well tilled and today
present a splendid appearance
The Times-Courier’s letter from
Mr. John W. Glenn, of Bluff Dale,
Tex., was read with much interest
1 and ph asuro. He was one of the
first and most agreeable students
of Oak laud High School, end his
old friends here were delighted to
hear from him. He married Miss
Mi I mot Cobn, of Ellijay, another
student here, and one of the most,
excellent women in the county
Mr. Bill Cole, brother of Mrs.
Tom Tabor, was an appreciated
visitor to Cartercay recently. Mr.
Cole married a Eolith Georgia hidv,
alter leaving Oakland, moved west
where he has accumulated a quarter
million dollars in Oklahoma, of
winch he speaks verv modestly,not
boastfully. He was a student mil
of life and energy with a cheerful
disposition and beloved by ail.
