KILL FLIES BEFORE
THEY ARE BORN
FLIES breed in filth and carry it wher
ever they go. One well-known breed
ing place is the outhouse, which, in some
communities, is a necessary evil. The
danger of disease from this source can
be largely overcome by the use of Giant
Lye. This powerful solvent destroys in
stantly the eggs of flies and mosquitos.
It sterilizes and deodorizes everything it
touches. In no other way can this menace
to health be so fully met. Giant Lye costs
so little you can afford to use it lavishly.
DIRECTIONS: Sprinkle either the dry
lye or a strong solution liberally over the
walls and contents of the vault and re
peat once a week.

Tests made in many states to deter

have shown that hard-surfaced high

pay for themselves in from Id to 15

The estimates were reached only aft

GOOD ROADS LENGTHEN LIFE
Prior to Construction of Improved
Highways Farmers Led Compar
atively isolated Lives.
Anything which contributes to the
physical or mental well-being of the
individual helps to prevent disease
to reduce disability and to lengthen
life. Prior to the development of the
automobile, and the building of our
good roads, most of the inhabitants of
our rural districts led comparatively
Isolated lives. The difficulty rnet in
getting about the country, and the
strenuousness of farm work, kept most
f the farmers, their families, and
their employees, tied down to the
i farm the greater nait of the year. As
a resml of the monotony and constant
toll, men and women exhausted their
strength and energy early, became pre
maturely old, and were often in
capacitated through lack of proper rec
reation and relaxation.
