TAFT SWEEPS THE COUNTRY BY
GREAT INCREASE IN PARTY VOTE
William Howard Taft is the
next president—as shown by the
returns of Tuesday’s election, and
in his administration he will have
the support of a republican house
and senate. The republicans lost
only a few representatives.
Taft will get 309 votes in the
electoral college aud Bryan 174.
Speaker Cannon was re-elected
from his district and will be made
speaker again.
The republican vote in the solid
south showed fa very material in¬
crease over that of former years.
The latest returns show that
Taft carried the following states
and their electoral vote:

j The Covington Buggy Manufac¬
turing Company will be ready to
commence business in this city on
January 1st.
As soon as it was made known
that the Norman Buggy Company
would remove to Griffin with the
close of the present year, several
enterprising gentleman decided
that Covington should not be with¬
out such an enterprise and they at
once commenced the organization
of a new company.
Dr. N. Z. Anderson and several
gentlemen took the matter in
fiand and the amount of the capi¬
tal stock needed ha 3 already been
subscribed and they will proceed
at once to incorporate themselves
into a company.
An experienced buggy manufac¬
turer has been secured to take
charge of the enterprise and it is
proposed to make the enterprise
larger than has ever been known
heretofore. Vehicles of the very
best class will be turned out, and
it is proposed to make the Coving¬
ton buggy the best in the State
from the very first.
With the enterprise backed by
