Kiwanians And Ladies
Ladies Night was celebrated at
the Delaney Hotel last Thursday
night. The Kiwanians and their
ladies gathered together for the
first time in many months and the
affair was most enjoyable.
Dean George Roach presided
during the dinner and welcomed
the ladies. After the dinner was
served President Roach turned the
meeting over to Nat Turner who
was in charge of the program. The
first number on the program was
a selection of songs beautifully
rendered by Mrs. Ernest Lee Step
henson and the Kiwanians evi
denced their approval by the I
hearty applause given each num
ber. Next on the program was Miss
Mary Loucy Butler who entertain
ed with tap dancing. She is a
talented young lady and her num
bers were roundly applauded.
After this the Kiwanians were
placed on one side of the room and
the ladies on the other. With Jack
Porter as schoolmaster a series of
questions were asked in the same
nature as a spelling bee. Jack kept
life in the party by his witty man
ner in questioning. All went well j
until Abe Loyd broke up the party
by using an old schoolboy trick,
and the Dean dismissed the school
and the club by a tap of the bell.
