at the Love Joy Methodist
Church, Sunday afternoon at 6
o’clock.
The altar was banked with
magnolia branches and five
branch candlebra glowed with
white candles on either side. The
center of the altar was a large
basket of white gladiolias and
dahlias.
Mrs. John Parker rendered a
musical program, including “I
Love You Truly,” preceding
the wedding march.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nelson
served as best man and matron
of honor. Mrs. Nelson wore navy
linen and white accessories. Her
corsage was a purple orchid.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore
light blue faille with black ac
cessories. A white orchid was
her corsage.
The Rev. John Parker, pastor
of the Love Joy Church, per
formed the ceremony.
Brothers-in-law of the groom,
Messrs. Harold Dennis and Har
vey Clifton served as ushers.
Mrs. McDonald, mother of the
bride, chose a navy linen suit
with black accessories. Mrs.
Frith, mother of the groom, wore
black linen. Both mothers wore
corsages of white carnations.
Immediately following the
ceremony, the bride's family en
tertained at a reception at their
home.
The three-tiered cake, decor
ated in white and silver, was
topped with a miniature bride
and groom. Mrs. Fred Hays, aunt
of the bride, served the cake.
Miss Judy Marks served the
punch of lime sherbert and gin
ger ale.
The couple left the reception
for a wedding trip. They will
make their home at Camp Gor
don where Mr. Blackwell is serv
ing in the Army.

Mrs. Billy Graham, recent bride,
with a miscellaneous shower.

ber 25th at the Thomasville First
Baptist Church, was the rehearsal
dinner at which Mr. and Mrs.
Linton Smith, parents of the
groom were hosts on Friday even
ing following the wedding re
hearsal.
Approximately fifty-five guests
members of the wedding party
and out of town visitors compris
ed the guest list for the lovely
ocasion which was held at the
Magnolia Room of the Scott
Hotel.
Yellow and white were ad
hered to in the color scheme for
the decorative arrangements.
Tuberoses and yellow and white
carnations were employed in the
attractive centerpieces of the
tables; and the ladies were pre
sented with corsages and the men,
boutonniers accentuating the
color scheme.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scott at an in

Os Circle No. 2
The October meeting of the
Circle No. 2 of the Covington
Presbyterian Church met Mon
day afternoon, October 4th at ^3O
at the home ot Mrs. S. J. Mov
cock.
Mrs. Charles Starling, chair
man, opened the meeting with
prayer. Thirteen members answ
ered to roll call. This was a one
hundred percent meeting. Miss
Lucy Banks of Forsyth was a
visitor.
Mr. J. S. Gardner Sr. led a most
interesting devotional on “Paul
in Ephesus.” Mrs. W. T. McGuire
gave the article on “Crowded
Ways of Life.”
Mrs. Starling presided over the
business session. It was announc
ed that Home Mission Season will
be October 17-24. Each member
was asked to bring some good
used warm clothing to the next
meeting for world mission.
An expression of sympathy was
read from Mrs. Brooks Greer in
the death of her father.
Sixteen dollars was collected on
the building fund and $14.75 was
collected on pledges.
The meeting was closed with
prayer by Mrs. Joe Hunt.
Refreshments were served by
the hostesses.
The next meeting will be held
: in the home of Mrs. Helen Pat

offered prayer.
The minutes of the September
j 6th meeting were read and ap
proved.
The treasurers report was given

ferent Bishops, Deaconnesses and
returned Missionaries. In con
clusion she sang a parady on
the song, “Y’all Come”, which
was sung by the Georgia dele
gation at the Assembly.
The meeting was closed by
prayer by Mrs. Hawkins.

Mrs. Dickey's
The Addie Branham Circle of
the Oxford W.S.C.S. met Sept
21 at the home of Mrs. W. J.
Dickey with Mrs. Rolfe Blood
worth as co-hostess. Mrs. Cecile
Allgood, circle chairman, opened
the meeting with prayer. Guests
, welcomed were Miss Eva Mask,
| Mrs. E. Snodgrass, Mrs. F. Landt,
: Mrs. R. Pierre, Mrs. H. C. Harrys.

the roll call.
It was announced that Octo
ber meeting would be held at the
home of Mrs. W. Ellis with Mrs.
Leland Ellis as co-hostess. Mrs.
Robert Budd will be in charge of
the program.
Mrs. Woodrow Light reported
that the W. S. C. S. will contri
bute $2.00 toward the current cir
cle project, the Oxford Negro
Library. It was decided that a
special collection will be held at
the October circle meeting for
this project.
The covered dish supper at
Haygood Hall, Oct. 5, at 7:30 with
Rev. Peter Manning as speaker
was announced. A nursery for
small children will be held at
the Community Center with the
MYF in charge.
Mrs. Bill Giles was thanked for
acting as secretary during the
summer months.
The program chairman for the
evening, Mrs. Woodrow Light,
, introduced the speaker, Miss Eva
Mask, who chose for her topic
“Concerning the City.”
