“Theatre is about
more than learning
lines and enjoying the
spotlight. It is about
overcoming obstacles,
accountability and
pushing yourself to
do your best. It allows
students to start with
a blank slate and cre
ate a finished product
that they can be proud
of. We can lead them
and teach them the
skills, but at the end
of the day, they’re the
ones on that stage
making it happen,”
said Bush. “I love the
bonds theatre creates
and the sense of be
longing that they gain
from being a part of
something great.”

104-year-old makes biscuits on wood stove
Rosalee King recently
made biscuits for her family
at 104 years old. Her oldest
grandson Zane Lee fired up
her wood stove in her ‘old
kitchen’ in Lifsey Springs and
cooked the biscuits along
with sausage, bacon, eggs,
grits with cheese and coffee.
“My mama taught me to
make biscuits way, way back
yonder,” said Rosalee. “1
couldn’t have been very old,
about 6 years old, I just could
see the table... I’ve been mak
ing biscuits a long time. When
my Mama taught me how to
make biscuits, we didn’t have
a rolling pin so we just used
our hands to pat them out
and stick them in the stove.
Making those biscuits the
other night was a lot of fun. It
was good to eat with family in
the old kitchen.”
