Livestock Show Team excels at state
The Pike County FFA Livestock
Show Team wrapped up its 2020-21
winter show season at the Georgia
Junior National Livestock Show.
“The state show ended on a good
note this year with 12 of our ex
hibitors placing in the top 10 in their
weight classes,” said CTEA teacher
and FFA advisor Morgan Hurkmans.
“These students had a great year with
lots of ribbons, buckles and money
earned but the life lessons taught
through these projects far outweigh
the awards. Congratulations to these
students for a great show season!”

“The competition was strong with
more than 2,000 pigs competing
from across Georgia. These students
worked hard managing feeding, train
ing and correctly maintaining the skin
and hair of these pigs,” said Hurk
mans. “They have all become better
leaders and teammates throughout
the five-month project and have
developed many life skills such as
responsibility, financial management,
organization and record keeping. We
are so proud of all of them.”
