Commissioners hear positive audit report

Commissioners heard
their annual audit from
the fiscal year ending
June 30, 2020 during
their March 30 meet
ing. They were informed
by Driver, Adams and
Sharpe that the county’s
assets increased by
about $700,000 and their
long-term debt decreased
by $914,000.
The audit showed
the county’s liabilities
decreased by about
$911,000 and their net
position increased by
$1.6 million.
Revenues in Pike were
up $1.4 million while
expenses increased by
$800,000. At the end of
the fiscal year, the gen
eral fund for the county
was at $2,962,948, an in-

Red Clay Ministries

Craft and Car Show
on Saturday, April 17
in downtown Concord
with plans to make it an
annual fundraiser for
the ministry.
“Since the coronavi-
rus pandemic curtailed
so many fun activities,
we are hoping for a
beautiful spring day
on Saturday, April 17,
so families and friends
can be outside, enjoy
the fresh air and just
have a fun day visiting
the vendor booths and
looking at the vehicles
in the car show,” said
Rhonda Morgan, direc
tor of Red Clay Min
istries. “Anything on
wheels is welcome at
the car show, so we are
expecting cars, trucks,
tractors, lawn mowers
and scooters. Maybe
there will be other ve
hicles that will surprise
us, too. We will have
food vendors, also, and
eating outside is always
a fun picnic.” To regis

prisons in Georgia. If
a jail or prison has a
chaplain, the Red Clay
Ministry Leader comes
alongside the chaplain
to provide worship ser
vices and other needs
such as Bibles, Chris
tian literature, holiday
programs, Bible studies
and hygiene products.
However, many of the
county jails do not have
chaplains. If a facility
does not have a chap
lain, the Red Clay Min
istry Leader works with
the jail administration
to provide Christian
Leadership in the jail by
providing Worship Ser
vices and Bible Studies
to those incarcerated at
the jail.

Two charged with 109 counts
of forgery; printers discovered
BURGLARY:

Investigators determined the
three juveniles entered the prem
ises to commit burglary. The two
teens were charged with burglary,
criminal damage to property, enter
ing auto and reckless conduct.
The case is still under investiga
tion and the Pike County Sheriff’s
Office did not respond to requests
for additional information before
press time.
Pike County deputies respond
ed to a local Dollar General store
Saturday, April 3 in reference to a
female, Shannon Williamson, 42,
who was trying to use counter
feit money at the store.
Deputies confirmed the
money as being fraudulent and
arrested Williamson. Investiga
tors conducted a search of her
residence at 51 First Street in
Concord. Inside the residence a
male suspect was encountered
by the name of Charles West,
53, from McDonough. West had
more counterfeit money on his
person. A room inside the house
was found to have two printers
with counterfeit money still on
the printer. Varying denomina
tions of U.S. currency were also
discovered during the search.
Both suspects are incarcerated
and facing 109 counts of forgery.
Williamson is currently on felony
probation for a prior conviction.
