QUALIFIED VOTERS OF
PIKE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT,
GEORGIA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that
on the 2nd day of November, 2021,
a special election will be held at
the regular polling places in all the
election districts of Pike County at
which time there will be submit
ted to the qualified voters of Pike
County for their determination
the question of whether a special
sales and use tax for educational
purposes of one percent shall be
levied, imposed and collected on
all sales and uses in Pike County
for a period of time not to exceed
twenty (20) calendar quarters, be
ginning with the calendar quarter
following the calendar quarter in
which the sales and use tax for ed
ucational purposes presently in ef
fect expires, and for the purpose of
raising not more than $14,600,000
of net proceeds by said tax, which
shall go to the School District for
the purpose of (i) adding to, reno
vating, repairing, improving, and
equipping existing school build
ings, school system facilities and
athletic facilities; (ii) paving and
improving campus roads and park
ing lots and improving Americans
with Disabilities Act compliant ac
cessibility throughout the school
system; (iii) acquiring miscella
neous new equipment, fixtures
and furnishings for the school
system, including HVAC equip
ment, computer technology equip
ment, computer software, athletic
equipment, kitchen and dining
hall furnishings and equipment,
school buses and other vehicles,
transportation and maintenance
equipment, and safety and secu
rity equipment, and (iv) acquir
ing land with the maximum cost
of the projects described in items
(i)-(iv) payable from said tax being
$14,600,000; (v) paying any general
obligation debt of the School Dis
trict issued in conjunction with the

ance of general obligation debt of
Pike County School District in the
principal amount of $11,250,000 for
the purposes of the Pike County
School District described in items
(i)-(iv) above and for the purpose
of payment of a portion of the in
terest on such debt.
If the imposition of such tax is
approved by the voters, such vote
shall also constitute approval of
the issuance of general obligation
debt by the Pike County School
District in the aggregate principal
amount not to exceed $11,250,000
for the purposes of the Pike
County School District described
in items (i)-(iv) above and for the
purpose of payment of a portion
of the interest on such debt. The
maximum rate of interest such
general obligation debt will bear is
not to exceed 5.0% per annum, and
the aggregate amount of principal
to be paid in each year during the
life of such debt will be as follows:

2025- $2,185,000
2026- $2,675,000
2027- $3,250,000
Any brochures, listings, or oth
er advertisements issued by the
Pike County Board of Education, or
by any other person, firm, corpora
tion, or association with the knowl
edge and consent of the Board of
Education, shall be deemed to be a
statement of intention of the Board
of Education concerning the use of
the proceeds of the general obliga
tion debt to be issued in connec
tion with the sales and use tax for
educational purposes.
The several places for holding
said referendum shall be at the
regular and established voting
precincts of the election districts
of Pike County, Georgia, and the
polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to
7:00 p.m. on the date fixed for the
referendum. All polling places will
be open.
The last day to register to vote
in this referendum shall be Octo
ber 4, 2021 through 5:00 p.m. The
deadline to submit absentee ballot
applications is October 22, 2021.
Those residents of Pike County
qualified to vote at such referen
dum shall be determined in all re
spects in accordance with the elec
tion laws of the State of Georgia.

PIKE COUNTY BOARD OF APPEALS
MONTHLY MEETING
6:00 p.m. October 21, 2021
The Pike County Board of Appeals will conduct its scheduled monthly meeting on October 21,
2021 at 6:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Pike County Courthouse located at 16001 Barnesville
Street, Zebulon, Georgia. The Board will conduct PUBLIC HEARINGS on the following items:
(1) Appeal application APP-21-01. Steve Reeves is requesting an appeal to the administrative
action by the zoning administrator with regards to property located at 4757 US Hwy 19, Zebulon, GA
30295. The appeal is being heard pursuant to Section 156.25 of the Pike County Code. Commission

(2) Special Exception application SE-21-10. Dan Rise, owner and applicant is requesting permis-
sionvia special exception to operate a general home occupation located at property on North Madden

consists of 14.54 acres of land and has approximately 536 feet of frontage along North Madden Bridge

square feet as the minimum square footage for a primary dwelling and the applicant is requesting to
build a tiny house consisting of 400 square feet. The Subject property is 3.5 acres zoned A-R, Agricul
tural-Residential located on Reidsboro Road, Williamson, GA 30292. It is located in Landlot 158 in
the 1st land district of Pike County and is further identified by further identified by Parcel ID: 053 004

(5) VAR-21-08. Charles A. Smith applicant and owners is requesting a variance to CH 156.43 (C)
(13) (D) regarding the maximum size of a detached guest quarters. Current ordinance allows 750
square feet as the maximum square footage for detached guest quarters and the applicant is request
ing to build a detached guest quarters larger than 750 square feet. The Subject property is 3.021 acres

The Pike County Board of Assessors will be con
ducting a re-inspection in the southern part of Pike
Co. and the southern subdivisions, over the next
several months. The appraiser will be in a marked
vehicle and will have I.D. with them. Please contact

City of Williamson
The proposed fiscal year 2022 budget has been presented to the
Williamson City Council members. The proposed FY 2022 bud
get reflects another decrease in the city tax millage rate for Wil
liamson City residents. A copy of the proposed budget is avail
able at City Hall for residents of Williamson to review if desired.
A public Budget Hearing will be held at 6:30 PM at Williamson
City Hall, 71 Midland Street, on Thursday, 14 October, 2021 at
which time persons wishing to be heard on the budget may ap
pear. A special called meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Thurs
day, 21 October, 2021 to adopt the budget and set the 2022 millage
rate by enactment of a budget resolution. Due to Covid-19 safety
requirements, the above meetings may be held at the Williamson
Walking Trail Park pavilion to allow for safe distancing. Contact
