A Romantic Wedding.

Another romantic wedding occurred
in this city laat Monday night, and
after being bent aecret for two deye,
was made publlo this morning. Elmer
Lott and Mlaa Eva Brinson were mar
ried at the home of Jndge Barrel
Sweet, on Thome, street, Monday eve
ning at 7:30 o'clock.
Both Elmer and Miss Era are rery
young. The former will be 15 year,
old neat March and Misa Era la about
15 at present. The couple Intended to
keep the wedding a aecret from their
parents and from the public, but in
some way the bride's 'mother learned
of it laat night.
The couple had aome trouble in
securing the necessary marriage
license, knowing that Ordinary Lott,
an uncle of the groom, would refuse to
issue it on account of their age. They
obtained a license from Pierce county,
. however, Mr. O. K. Johns going over
to Blacksheur after it.
Elmer and Miss Eva left the Ilrinson
homo on Pendleton street Monday
night, ostensibly to attend the iecturb
at the opera house, but a carriage was
In waiting for them and they were
driven over to Judge Burrel Sweat's
by Gordon Bradley, who was the only
witness to the wedding. Aftor the
ceremony, the couple went to the
operr house, attended the lecture, and
then returned to their homes as usual.
Elmar went to visit hia bride laat
night when Mra. Brinson informed
him of her knowledge of the wedding.
After thla week the couple will prob
ably stay with the groom’s parents on
Butler street. Elmer intend, to begin
work in the Plant System shops in a
few days
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mra W. T. Brlhson, who reside on
Pendleton street in this city. She has
been attending the Waycross' public
school up to last night
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mra
J. A. Lott. He has also been attend
ing school hare, and baa on oocasions
assisted bte brothers, Dan and Oscar
Lott in their guano bnalnesa
An Encouraging Outlook

The outlook for a cotton mill for
Waycross la very encouraging, and
there^are many reasons to believe
that before the end of the month a
site will be purchased and work on
the foundation of the building com
menced. Messrs F. C. Owens, O. R.
Youmaus, W. W. Sharpe, J. 8. Dailey
and others have been working quietly
getting up subscriptions for the mill
for several weeks, and their success
justifies the announcement that In all
probability the mill will be secured.
The Herald has been requested not
to make publio the full details of
their plans, but will probably be at
liberty to do so by the eud of the
week.

Mr. E. J. Berry, the present in

met at the Court House January the
7th. 1902. Members present: D. U.
Walker, President; Benj. airmans, B,
M. James, E. Moore.
Reading of the minutes of laat meet
ing read and approved without any
amendments.
It was ordered that the proceedings
of the Board of Education for the yeur
19011 be published in the Waycross
Journal for the sum of 820.0Q,

Admiral Dewey Passes
THROUGH WAYCROSS EN ROUTE TO
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
[From Tuesday’s Evening Herald.]
Admiral Dewey pawed through Way
cron today on the earl y morning train
from Washington. He was en route to
Pa m Beach, Fla. The Admiral was
not yet np when the train reached Way
cross, and no one here saw him. The
report was circulated this morning that
Admiral Dewey would arrive on train
35 which came in at 12:85, and seyeral
people were at the depot to see him.
There was disappointment when it was
learned that he was not on board, hav«
ing passed through the city several hours
before.
