gross of a protracted'' religious
meeting, or services, at Pearson,
Coffee county, and last Satur
day a card was received by the
proprietor. Mr. Parker, from
tho Pastor of that churcli, tell
ing of the wonderful works of
God’s Spirit, and containing the
request: “Pray for us. Send
help 1” Could the pathetic ap
peal of our brother, anxious for
the souls of his friends, be re
sisted, had the inclination pre
vailed, save by hearts of stone?
Could we .bear to bear .that
plaintive, appealing, distressed
voice, wafted, as it were, on the
winds, calling for “help” with
out responding? You say “no,
not for any consideration 1"—
The news was carried to the
Sunday morning “love-feast,”
of the Waycross church, and by
appointment and prayers of the
good people, the writer was del
egated to carry to tbe church at
Pearson the tidings that prayer
was being made for tho people.
What an important mission!

of Messrs. Win. Parker, T. E.
Lanier and that old veteran, H.
Morphy, at the depot, and with
these, a safe arrival was made
•l that little village at 11:15.—
Tbe church was open, the peo
ple were thoro, the- pastor was
away, (this being bis regular
appointment day. at McDonald’s
mill), still, the services were
conducted by an “Unseen
Hand” (to whom all honor and
glory is duly accredited) which
carried with each song, each
prayer, each word the powerful
manifestations of ’Divine Love,’
and its cleansing, convicting
, power. In short, Bros. Austin,
BucUanari and others had pro'
pared the ground, seed had
been sown, and we (tho Way'
cross delegation) had come to
count new sheaves far the Mas-

instances, we grieve to say, re

Verily, the tenderest space o(
the immaculate Redeemer’s
boundless love must have flown
like a seething, consoling flame
upon tbe hearts of these dear
people, for, in a covenant with
one of Waycross’ delegates, tbe
whole house, not a man, woman
or child excepted, came down
on their knees, in token that a
changed course should be the
effort of their future life.
Three additions to the ohurcb
were made and one reclaimed—
making forty-three for the seveu
days’ work. This is a good re

My Dear Fiu en ns:
I have thought of you many
times since I left Waycross and
Southern Georgia. O, how I
would love to write to each one,
but my hands arc so full this
would be impossible; so, there
fore, dearly beloved, the only
means of communication that
can satisfy niy heart will be to
address you all through this
medium. I do not forget any
of you, and duily ask a blessing
upon each one I met, each one

those whom I did not meet, hut

So thankful for the privilege of
prayer, which is tbe Christian’s
vital breath. While engaged
in domestic troik getting Grace
Cottage ready to open, there is
much need of the exercise
which Mary, the servant girl,
taught many years ago. The
lesson has beneiitted thousands.
The old divines bail selected
fur their next monthly meeting
the text: “Pray without ceas
ing.” "What,” said Mary, “take
a whole month to 'pray without
ceasing,’ Why, the more I have
to do the more I can pray, be
canse everything furnishes me a
thought for prayer.” Then she
explained somctlitug as follows
As she opened her eyos in the
morning, ’that her understand-
ing might lie enlightened,’ as
she washed anil clothed herself
’that her heart be cleansed
afresh and she lie clothed with
righteousness for that day,’ fill
with tho ‘bread of life,’ while
doing for the children;’ made
as au innocent ‘child, meek mid
mild, with faith increased,’ as
she plied tlie needle, and so on,
through a busy life, and how
precious it is uhen our beaits
are filled with the love of Jesus.
We all need patience and the
grace of God to help ns in every
position in life,.aud the promise
is sum. “As thy days so shaH'
tby strength be.” In order to
heed the word, Mutt., v. 14-16,
We must let patience have her
perfect work, that those we deaf
with, live and associate with in
life may be beneiitted thereby.
Let us remember the last les
son we had together, 34 psl.,
and so live that we can make
some heart glad each day, “no
heart so hard bat loves a ki jd
■word,” und all feel keenly the
sting of unkind ties*—neglect.
As the headlight does its work
(penetrates the darkness with
light) so may our lives. Dear
friends, let us lie in earnest, for
the days are passing so rapidly,
and each is making its record
for good or for evil. The un
conscious influence xftl tell in
