FOB THE rouse MEN.
Rev. E. J. Burch preached from
the 6th chapter and 10th verse of
Daniel, last Sunday, for the bene
fit of the youngmen, as previously
announced. It was a master piece
of instruction, telling over again,
in plain, concise language the
story of Daniel’s fidelity to God,
his triumph in the lions den, and
the unwavering Christian faith, of
the Hebrew children, in the fiery
fnrnace. It was well received, and
we trust may tend to good with
the young, and old tnen too.
NO FZFRR NEXT WEEK.
It is the usual custom in most
country printing offices to take a
little recreation on the 4th of July,
and as ourself and a ten-year-old
boy constitute the mechanical and
editorial force of this office, for the
first time in its existince, we will
issue no paper next week, only an
advertising sheet being sent out, to
make tho county advertising legal.
Our readers will lose nothing,
however, for we will return refresh
ed and more vigorous after a
short respite from our routine of
labor.
W. M. WILSON.
Perhaps there is not a better
known man in Ware county thaw

Superior court, but he can never-
be undersold in family groceries.
Always with a fresh stock he nat
urally can figure down on “rock
bottom"prices, and sells nothing;
but first-class goods.

A MOTHER GONE.
We are pained to announce the
death of Mrs. Delilah Wilkerson,
a most esteemed lady, mother of
J. J, Willkerson, T . R., of this
county, last Wednesday, June

A FOUNDRY FOR WAYCROSS.
Some enterprising gentlemen
Gfilon & Burnet, of 'Macon, have
purchased a site near the R- tt W.
R. R. just below Mr. C. C. Buc
hanan’s variety works, where they
propose to erect a foundry, at -an
earley day. It appears to ns
that Waycross will be a splendid
point for this business, because
the railroad facilities for reaching
the entire section are ample, and
the site selected is convenient for
shipping. We hope the enterprise
may prove a success from the be
ginning, and that the owners re
alize a handsome support from the
investment. We shall have more
back, but when the young M. D. | to say as the building approaches

CLOSING UP OS SUNDAY.
We said last week that we hoped
tho Council would not close the
ice-house entirely on Sunday, for
the reason, we contended, that it
might work hardships on the sick.
We did not, in that suggestion,
question the motives or sincerity
of the Council, or any member
thereof; or their ability to take
care of the affairs of the town, as
some persons seem to think, bnt
we wrote the article in question
thinking, probably, that the use ot
ice for the sick had been over
looked. We do not advocate the
policy of keeping open any house
on Sunday for commercial benefits
but we do say it is right and just
to allow the privilege of cooling
the fevered brow and parched
tongue of a wife or child to a man.
Some very harsh, undeserved crit-
cisras concerning ourself in -regard
to this matter, have reached oni
ears, Bimply because we conld not
Bee the ice house question as
others did, but they have no
effect upon ns. We had a right to
speak, did so, and that too, with
out consulting any man’s opinion
or viewB, or without disrespect to
any member of our Council, and,
as a journalist, as a citizen wh»
delights in obeying the law, and
have paid every cent of taxes re
quired of us, we said we hoped .
Council would not pass an ordi-
j nance taking ice out of the reacla
of the siok, and still say so.
