Washington. Jan. 6.—When tbs
house convened today the invocation
was delivered by William Coudon, of
Boston, son of the house chaplain. Mr.
Wadsworth, chairman of the commit
tee on agriculture, submitted a report
on the resolution requiring the seer*
tary of agriculture to furnish certain
Information regarding cotton statistics
with the recommendation that as the
estimates of the deparment of agricul
ture were found to be honestly and
intelligently made, the resolution lie
on the table.
Mr. . Livingston, of Georgia, do-
manded time to be heard in favor of
the resolution, alleging that he had
had no opportunity to speak in its
favor before the committee. It final
ly was agreed tha tthe subject should

about seventy-five or one hun
dred visitors will be in Wayeross
on January 18th. Lodges in this
circuit are located in the follow
ing towns: Wayeross, Brunswick,
Blackshear, Nicholls, Douglas,
Ilazlehurst, Jesup, Baxley and
Wiliacoochee. Brunswick has two
lodges. The members of Way-

Silver.
As a token of esttem, Mr. W.
H.Dyer,who severed his connec
tion with tho'Atlantic Coast Lim
as master mechanic Saturday,
was presented with a handsome
chest of solid silver by the men
who have been working under
him. On behalf of the em
ployes, the presentation was
made by that veteran Railroad
man, Mr. D. A. McGee. Mr.
Uyer highly appreciates the
gift, and expressed his thanks
hi an appropriate manner. En
graved upon the chest of silver
uere the words, “To W £1. Dyer,
from Employes of A. C. L Rail
road.” Mr. Dyer was in the
employ of the old Plant System,
later the Atlantic Ccast Line,
fora period of twen’y-flvoyears,
and during that time mude a
splendid record. He has made
many friends during his stay in
Wavcross, and it is to bs hoped
that lie and his estimable family
will continue to make their
home here.

Mr. J. V. Bruce Dead.

Mr. J. Y. Bruce, a locomotive
engineer, died this morning at
1 o’clock at his home on Albany
avenue. Mr. Bruce had been
sick with a complication of dis
eases, and his death was uot un
expected. The deceased was 35
years old, and is suivived by a
wife and thrte children. The
body has been prepared for ship
ment, and will bo carried to
Kennesaw, Ga., Mr. Bruce’s o'd
home, tonight tor interment.

Lee Wood, the little three
year-old ton of Mr*. Wood, who
