ready for the Orand Lodge, which
will be held In Savannah on May 23.

shows the order to be In a most pros
perous condition. Many new lodges
have been organised and Instituted
under Col. Bennett's administration.
He has Indeed made a record that la
very gratifying to the thousands.of
members of this great organisation.
Ko preceding Grand Master has la-
bored moro zealously than Col. Ben
nett to promulgate the principles of
Od Fellowship.
During the past year thousands of
dollars have been expended by the
various lodges of the state for the re
lief of the distressed members of tho
order and for the aupport of widows
of deceased brothers and for the ed
ucation of the orphans.
At the Grand Lodge meeting in
Savannah, Col. Bennett will turn over
the affairs of Grand Master to hla
successor In fine shspe, but, as Is bis
nature, he will still work for the car
rying on of the work of relieving the
distressed, visiting tho sick, burying
the dead and the education of tho
orphan.
At the meeting In Savannah, Col
Bean- it n nv go up a step higher In
the ranks of the. order, which would
be gratifying to his numerous friends
and admirers.
Charles Schwanmnkcr. a detective,
several weeks afterward, was hanged
this morning for the murder of
Schwanninker. George Collins, his
colleague, died on the gallows hero
n year ago.
Roosevelt Starts on Return Trip.

return trip this morning at 6 o'clock,
and will arrive at Denver at 6:30 to

Waycross was defeated by tho score

give as a reason for their defeat that
Riggins and Jenkins, the battery for
the first team, was put up against

en arrived here this morning from
Caracas, in the Red B. liner Phi-
kedllpa, enroute to Washington to
appear before Acting Secretary of
State Tan, and personally state what
he knowa concerning the now famous
ten thousand dollar check. His wife
accompanies him and they brought
twenty pieces of baggage. Indicating
a stay of some length.
