8AVANNAH MEN* WELL PLEASED
WITH PROGRESS HERE.
That Waycross has made tremen
dous strides in recent years is the
opinion of two well know n citizens
of Savannah, who were here yester-
dttajy. As guests of the Board of
Trade they were taken over the cit>,
visiting the various mills and the
immense shops of the Atlantic Coast
Line.
The gentlemen visiting here were
Dr. R. 8. Reid and Charles V. Hernan
dez,, assistant clerk of Council. They
were so impressed with Waycross
that they delayed their return to Sa
vannah in order that they might see
the entire city before leaving. Mr.
Hernadez had never stopped here be
fore. but stated that he felt as if he
had because he had heard so much
of Waycross.
While neither of them said they felt
that Waycross would eventually pass
Savannah in point of size they cast
longing eyes at the railroad shop*
and other big industries, congratulat
ing Waycross upon possessing such
plants.

PARTY PLANS TO GO FROM WAY-
CROSS MONDAY.
Present plans indicate that Way-
cross will have a largo delegation pie*-
ent at the Macon confrence about the
round the state tour. This vonforence
it to be held Tuesday morning at 10
o’clock at the Macon Chamber of Com
merce, and will be largely attended
by good rofui enthusiasts from all
ever the state, particularly from South
Georgia.
It is understood that among those
going from Waycross Monday will bo
J. T. Watt, in his Rnmbler, L. B. Har
rell, in his Maxwell, Calvin W. Park
er, In his Bulck W. H. Buchanan In
his Bulck, Dessau Bunn, in his E. M.
F. “80"; and F. H. McGee in his Bulck
*A17"; and Fred Brewer in his Bulck.
Others may Join the party before
Monday, giving Waycros the represen
tation that will bo needed to insure
Waycross remaining on the route for
the fall contest.
Douglas and Baxley r two towns
pulling for a change in the route that
will eliminate Waycross, aro planning
to send strong delegations to Macon
meeting. However, with Waycross
properly represented, the change won’t
take place. The very fact that ths
route via Waycross Is switched would
hurt this section, and the object of
the delegates In attending the Macon
gathering will be to prevent any such
change being made.
