It Is To Be Larger and Better—Cannot Get Picture

The following is an extract from a
private letter received this date from
Hon. Wm. 0. Brantley. It touchea
upon a matter of interest to Way*
cross and we violate no confidence in
giving it to our readers. It is pleas
ant to know that the building is to be
more substantial and handsome than
we supposed.

Yesterday was a red letter day for
Waycross.
The Confederate monument is un
veiled and is being viewed today by^
scores of visitors to the city.’

Two of several recent burglaries in
Waycross have been cleared by the
police. Five arrests, after tracing
goods alleged to have been taken from
two Waycross drug stores, is the re
sult of the investigation, and the end
is not yet.
The arrests include two boys, one
eight and the other ten years old.
When the goods reported missing by
the druggists were first located It was

along a parabolic path, the West In
dian hurricane late tonight was head
ed north to northenst along tho Flor
ida coast, with probabilities that It
will leave the Atlantic coast some
where in the vicinity of Jacksonville
or Savannah.

BOND ELECTION DATE.
Rome, Ga., Oct. 14.—City Council
last night fixed tho date of Rome’s
bond election as December C. The
question will be on the Issuanco of
$275,000 of 4 per cent bonds for water
works, soweragS, extension of street
