JUDGE BREWER.
The Herald congratulates both
Judge Brewer and fhe State of Geor
gia, on his appointmfil ti assistant to
the State Entomologist in the flgh*
against the black rot In our cotton.
Judge Brewer Is an old cotoq grower
and knows all about cotton ana cot
ton troubles, and in his usual consci
entious way, will tackle the work to
the benefit of all interested.
This black rot and rust disease in
growing cotton has grown to be a
great and serious problem and Is
calling for most determined action
to reach a cure.
Prof. E. L. Worsham has made a
life study of this question and-his
efforts for its prevention and cure
is resulting In much good, and he has
made a wise selection in securing
Judge Brewer to assist him in this
section. The Judge is busy getting
dita and coming In touch with the
f« n f is who are willing to co-oper
ate with the state, and by introduc-
of reed immune from this dis
ease eradicate the dangerous nest
om this section of Georgia.
Tax Equalizers.
The important committee appointed
by the Grand Jury to equalise the tax
es of Ware county have partially com-
pleted their ardous duties and are
training themselves up to withstand
the cussing or praise that generally ac
companies this thankless but gravely
important work.

day. you'll know he has just been to
look at the Central Baptist Taber
nacle and is rejoicing with his flock
ever the fact that the great roof is
steadily approaching completion. It
has been a heavy job to. get these
mighty girders in shapo and Mr. T.
W. Morrison and C. T. Sauls are alike
breathing easier now that that portion
of their responsibility is over and the
lighter work of the room is now being
completed.
REVIVAL CL08E8 TOMORROW.
The revival services which have
been in progress for nearly two weeks
at tho First- Methodist church will
close tomorrow night. It has been a
revival in every sense of the word.
Great crowds have attended from
day to day and there haj been many
conversions. There has been some
thing like sixty accessions to the
church. A large per cent of these
have been men.
Reb. Bob Jones preached last night
on excuses people offer for not ac
cepting Christ. At the close of the
service a number came forward and
professed conversion.
Prof. Makln, the gifted musician
who has been leading the singing
gets nearer the people from service
to service. His solos are an inter
esting feature of tho meeting.
Mr. Jones and Mr. Makin are taking
a rest today. They have a strenuous
campaign for the entire year. Mr.
Jones was beard to say that they
would simply have to have Saturday
for rest.
Tomorrow at 1:30 there is to be a
prayer meeting In the church for the
official members. At 11 a. m., and
i p. m., the regular services will
be held.
Mr. Jones requests all ladies to
leave their hats at home, this is ne
cessary on account of the large
crowds that attend.

Charleston, S. C., March 4.—Eea
Island cotton planters of South Car
olina will scud representatives to tho
convention to be held at Waycross on
March 14. The planters will meet
here next Wednesday to choso dele
gates. It has been the policy of tho
Carolina planters to stand aloof, but
It seems as If they are now ready to
co-operate with others.
Leaders here are hopeful that the
conference will result In benefits to
nil tho growers of this state, Geor
gia and Florida, prices not having
been satisfactory in the papt two
seasons.
