The beggar upon betas refused me® ey attacked Mr. Dodd viciously, strik tag him over the head with a cane, end felling him. The scene occurred at the depot and both Mr. Lovett and Mr. Ripley rushed to the rescue of Mr. Dodd. OPEN For Buisness The assailant was placed under ar rest. Mr. Dodd did not suffer any seiioug injury. MANY SHOTS FIRED IN ATTEMPT TO APPREHEND INSANE MAN ON HOUSEBOAT. Nashville, Tenn., March f.—A Way- erly, Tennessee, dispatch says: Twenty-five or thirty shots were; fired, one man killed and two were wounded yesterday afternoon near Clydeton, on the Tennessee river, in an effort to apprehend Dan Warren, aged about 40. W. F. Rust, a salesman for a Chi cago house, who volunteered, it Is understood to go with the posse, was shot and instantly killed. A man by the name of Brown was wounded In the back of the neck and Warren re ceived a scalp wound. Warren Is understood to have been released from the asylum some time ago.
