BOSTON'S DAY TO CELEBRATE.

Boston, Mass., March 17.—The ob
servance of the 135th anniversary of
the evacuation of the town or Boston
the British on Sunday, March 17,
1176, brought about by Iho activity of
the Continentals in fortifying Dor
chester Heights and Hooks Hill, wa.
celebrated with unusual spirit today,
particularly In South Boston, where
the British forces embarked. A large
military and civic parade was the
spectacular feature of the day's cele
bration.

Day was celebrated In the metropolis
today more generally than usual. The
Irish flag was much in evidence, spec-
ia* services were held in the Catholic
churches and a big parade of Irish
Societies marched through the prin
cipal downtown streets tnd was wit
nessed by Mayor Gayno* Archbishop
Farley and other notables.
