known in Columbia, was a fine old
South Carolina gentleman. At one
t me he was sheriff of Edgefield coun
ty, and took a leading part In the
stormy times in that county during
the days of reconstruction. He was

hialory, and it was a pleasure to sit
and hear him tell the stories of those
eventful days. 1

DEATH OF WILLIAM CLIFTON.

DIXIE AIRDOME.
Tonight marks a real epoch in the
history of the Alrdome, for this will
he the opening hill on tho new cir
cuit, from which acts are obtained.
The “booking” arrangements Just
completed by the management is one
that cannot be surpassed. The ni
ters playiifg at the Alrdome tonight
have just played the big cities of the
h, including Richmond, Atlanta,
^avnnnah and Jacksonville. One of
the acts, Corbett and Forrester, have
just played the sixteen big houses of
Jacksonville, Welks the Vaudeville
King, nnd at each of these houses
were the feature acts.
