Commissioner of Ed citation for the
Southern Commercial Congress. His
v ork for the Coogres* will carry him
Into all state* of the South, for the
, purpose of bringing about a quicker
exchange among all educators, of ed
ucational idea and of school improve
ment suggestions. He will also work
out a plan for the Southern Commer
cial Congress, whereby It esn assist
College and other Students of the
South to secure or complete their ed
ucation along scientific lines.
Mr. Thomas Is a young man with
an unusual educational record. He
was born In Saltvllle, Va., In 188V.
He received hla education In pubU-
ar bools, then prepared for college at
Taztwell. and the city high aehool at
fatlsttsBurg, Kentucky. He look hla
degree of Master of Afts at Milligan
.Collage, Johnson City. Tenn., In 1900.
Immediately after graduation be be

lege In the years between 1900 and
1902. he took nn active part In Im
proving Tennessee school conditions.
In 1903, he moved to Lynchburg, Va,

Hun College. He wa* one of five men
