The Way- cross boys were outclassed both in v-eight and practice, but they fought gamely and never gave up to the very last. The batteries were for Blackshear, Brown and Way; for Waycross, Ben nett a(nd DuBose. Bennett pitched a good game. The funefal was held this morning at the Catholic Church at nine o'clock, after which the re mains were carried to Bologne, Fla., for Interment, accompanied by his wife and son. Texas, April 21.—The r omory of General Sam Houston, who seventy-five .years ago today b»oke the power of the by ■1 ministering a decisive defeat to the forces ot Santa Anna in the bat tle of San Jacinto, was fittingly hon ored today by the unveiling of handsome monument over the grave of the famous soldier and statesman in the Huntsville cemetery. The un- ,veiling was an event of State-wide interest. Visitors from every Bection of Texas attended, among them being many members of the Socloty of the Daughters of the Texas Republc. whose annual convention has been in session here this week. Several mem bers of the Houston family were present as guests of honor, togather with W. P. Zuber and Alonzo Steele —the only survivors *of the battle of San Jnclnto. The committee in charge of arrangements was fortu nate in securing Wllliapi J. Bryan to deliver the principal address at tne unveiling exercises. The monument, which cost- $10,000 vak erected through an appropriation of the Texas legislature. Tho me morial consists of a low granite shaft bearing a bas-relief figure of Gener al Houston, mounted upon bis favor ite charger, with his hat in one hand waving his troops onward in their attack upon the forces of Santa An- < na In the battle of San Jnclnto. Upon the two sides of the main shaft are allegorical figures representing war ar»d peace. Upon the rovers* side of the shaft appears the Masonic em blem. The memorial was designed by Pompeo Copplnl.
