Dr. W. P. Price yesterday 'stated
that while in depot in Jackson, Miss.,
getting his tickets for Waycross, he
met Rev. R. A. N. Wilson, who
he remembered as the speaker at tre
Sea Island Cotton Convention and
who is alBo editor of the Union Advo
cate of Mississippi. Dr. Wilson was
dolighted to know Dr. Price was coin
ing to Waycross. Said he: •*«
going to a splendid town. The best
tiling about tho people of Waycross is
that they believe in themselves.” Till*
opinion expressed by Dr. Wilson
means something, and is worthy of
consideration. The growth of Way-|
cross and the wonderful record she
has made has not been because of
her location or Hpeclai advantages,
but Una largely been the result of de
termined, continuous and
united effort on part of those
mnko up tho progressive life of our
city. Theso men hav^Tmil confidence,
belief in themselves, they have
thought big tilings, have desired big
things, have gone after big things and
becnusc of that confidence, pluck and
perservance. have accomplished big
things and made a city grow where
a pin© thicket so lately stood. When
you fifrtl a hunch of men stntuiing on
tho corner kicking on Waycross and
her possibilities, pay no attention.
The work of the past lms not been
complished by kickers, but by men
who had faith by their works and
with persistent effort have orwrrmne
difficulties and made the Waycross of
today |>oss|blc. Tho same efforts on
further will accomplish 'the same or
FTeater results. Therefore let us con- Mr. S. M. Cannon came up from
