Castle, the crime being com mitted by Castle's brotrer-in law, Rev. A. J. Jones,. It secius from the evidence produced at the coroners jury that bad feeling had existed be tween the two men for some time, and that Castle had repeatedly threat ened to kill Jones. As he approached Jones home, both Jones and his wife called to him to stop, thinking he was armed; Jones then fired his gun In the air; Castle still did not stop his approach and when he was about forty yards from the gate Jones fired on him. The coroner’s jury returned a verdict of justifiable homicide.— Valdosta Times. GAME LAW VERY UNPOPULAR. Savannah, Ga., Sept. 12.—Solicitor General Norman of the Atlantic Cir cuit states that the new game law recently passed by the state legis lature is very unpopular throughout many of the South Georgia counties. There have been several meetings al ready in dlffernt counties In his cir cuit says the solicitor, of men who have been accustomed to hunt on their own lands and the v ldilds of their friends in the past^nd they have determined not to Submit to a law which requires that a permit be had before firing a gun. . They are willing to abide by the new regula tions as to the time the law shall be operative but they do not like the Idea of living up to the rigid require ments. According to the idea sug gested by Mr. Norman, the people In different districts have banded to gether pa a sort of mutual protection society and will not comply with all the rigid requirements of the new act which they consider obnoxious and in conflict with • their ideas of American liberty and independence. It was the battle of North Point that inspired Francis Scott. Key to write "The Star-Spangled Ban ner,” and one of the Interesting fea tures in connection with today's cel ebration was the unfurling of the original flag that’ inspired Key to write tho national hymn over the ram parts of historic Fort McHenry.
