Sept. 20.—On the monument grounds near Malvern the. customary exercises wore held today in commemoration of the 134th anniversary of the "Massacre of Pa- oll," in which the American troops under “Mad Anthony” Wayne, in their retreat from Brandywine, were attack ed in the night by the British and routed with great slaughter. J. M. Pearson, formerly of Valdos ta, now a resident of the Philippine Islands, has been appointed chief clerk of the Judge advocate of the Philippines division of the United States • army. He h in the law de partment of the army and his position is quite ft responsible one.—Valdosta Times. The annual meeting of the Georgia Drainage Commission will be held in Waycross in November. Now that the new drainage law has been passed it is expected that much interest will be displayed in this organization.
