Highsmith returned yes terday from a lengthy visit to her son Mr. Carlos M. Hlghsmith, in New York. Her daughter, Mrs. A. Leltch, met her In Savannah and a» companied her to Waycross. Ex-Mayor R. fe. Hopkins, Brunswick, is a prominent visitor to Waycross today. He is making his headquarters at LaGrande. Miss Lulu Raybon has returned from a pleasant visit to friends in Quitman. Mr. Marke S. Barton, of Quitmait county, Georgia, arrived In the city this morning, and is the guest of his aunt, Mrs. J. R. Smith on Reynolds street. He Is to become a citizen of our. city indefinitely. AN ENJOYABLE OCCASION. Ware Rebekah Lodge of Odd Fel lows had an enjoyable entertainment last night, the occasion being the cel ebration of the flxtleth anniversary of the Rebekah Oegree. The exercises were opened ' with prayer. The welcome address was made by Rev. John F. Harbin. Mr. Harbin made a splendid talk on the principles of the order, which wai greatly enjoyed. Rev. R. A. Brown, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, made an excellent address.,Mr. C. E. Dunn also made an interesting talk. Little Miss Tessie Lee Dunn delight- ed the audience with an interesting recitation. At the conclusion of the exercises delicious refreshments were served. IN THE COURTS. Quite a large crowd attended the Mayor's Court this morning A negro haekman, who was charged with dis orderly conduct toward two colored women passing through the city, had a hearing. After hearlra; the evi dence the case was dismissed by the defendant’ agreeing to pay the women bade the money he collected for hack fare and also their expenses while remaining over to attend court. . Tn the City Court this morn’ng, Herbert Rollins, a young negro who claims to be from Tallahassee, Fla, entered a plea of guilty to the charge of larcency from the house. He wan sentenced to pay a fine of $75.00 or spend nine months on the roads. Joe Green, a negro, was found guil ty of stealing a sack of flour, valued at 75 cents from the store of Sikes & Son on Albany avenue, and was sentenced to pay a fine of $30.00 or serve three months. ooooooooooo O A FLEMING M D O .
