TAFT INVITED TO VISIT V/AYX.
Judge J. L. Sweat, president of the
Hoard of Trade, acting on t.ie author
ity of the Hoard of Governors, today
extended President William Howard
Taft a cordial invitation to visit
Waycross next January, when the
President is scheduled to visit Jack
sonville.
This summer the President told
Col. John W. Bennett that he would
be pleased to visit Waycross if aa
came within a convenient distance
while he was president. Since the
Jacksonville trip has been. arranged
it seems certain now that President
Taft will have an opportunity of matt
ing the visit mentioned.
Should the president come to Way-
cross, it would bring thousands of
people from this entire section to
the city to hear him matte ah address
and to meet him if possible. It has
been some time since Waycross has
entertained a President of the United
States and If given an opportunity in
January the city will undoubtedly
outdo herself. .
