Farmers Around Avant Smile Over
Prospects—News Notes.
Avant, Ga., Juno 18.—The
farmers in this section have very
good crops, and they smilo with
delight to think that they have
not had to give their crops over to
General Green yet.
Mr. R. S. Herrin, of Offcrman,
made a pleasant trip to this place
last week.
Miss Kate Lewis is spending a
few days with relatives at Offer-
man this week.
Miss Matilda Raulerson has re
turned home from Brunswick,
where she has been attending
school.
Mr. D. W. Raulerson made a
business trip to Patterson, last
Thursday.
Messrs. J. N. Raulerson and J.
\V. Furns, made a pleasant trip to
Patterson, Saturday.
We are proud to receive two of
Avant’s most popular young men,
back in our midst, Messrs. J. L.
Dowling and J. C. Raulerson, who
have been attending school at Ab
beville.
Miss Celia Brinson has a fine
school in this section, and we wish
her much success,
Mr. J. D. Herrin passed through
here Sunday.
Messrs. F. Strickland and D.
Hays, made a business trip to Pat
terson, Saturday.
We are informed that there is to
be another grand picnic at the
Raulerson old Ferry place, on July
the 6th.
Mr. W. M. Lynn had the pleas
ure of making a trip to Burnt Fort,
last week.
Emilio Zurbano, of Tayabas
Province, has proclaimed himself
the successor of Aguinoldo and
governor of the Philippines.
Savannah will spend $25,000 on
the grounds aud buildings for the
State fair.
