S SOCIETY NEWS' Surprise Party. A dfliftlit ful surprise psrty oc curred at the cozy home of Mr. and Mm. Joe Malpas, in Old Way. cross, Friday eveuinjf. At 8 o'clock a crowd of yomiK people gathered at the home of Mm. Georgia Jones, each of the youiig men carrying a package of dainties, and they all proceed together to the Malpus home. The young couple were taken completely by surprise, hut they were quite equal to the emergency and with perfect ease and grace they soon hud the parly lost in pleasure. Those present were Misses Vir die I.ee, Daisy Deakle, Emily Hu dolph, Nettie Jones, Martha Jon-' Messrs. Thornton Carroll, Wi Crawley, Jim Jpnes, John Greer J. V. Woodward, John Woodward Fred Dorn. Birthday Party. The Home Mission Society of the I’reshyteriau church will give n novel entertainment on Friday evening, at the Armory, the occa. sion being a birthday party, penny will mark each yenr of grown people and children alike, hut as many object to letting their age he know n, it is expected that they will go beyond their years. The pen nies, nickels dimes and larger amounts will be handed in in sealed envelopes. Refreshments will bo served during the oveniug As the proceeds will be used for furnishing pews fur the church, it is hoped a largecrowd will be pros, ent and a handsome sum realized Personal Paragraphs. W. Sharpe. Mr. and Mrs. II. Murphyleft on Weduesdoy for n mouth’s visiting on St. Simons. Mrs. J. H. Whitman is spending the weok with Mrs. Charles Mc Intosh, in I.uraville, Fla. Mm. Hatcher, after an extended visit to her sister, Mrs. G. It. I.ove lace, left during the week fur New York. Mrs. K. C. Folks has gone on a two weeks' visit to her daughter, Mrs. George Hell, in Swainsboro. I.ittle Miss Maud Jenkins left on Thursday for Valdosta, to spend several weeks with her grandmoth er, Mrs. T. J. Jenkins. Mrs. A. II. O’Keefe left during the week for Augusta, where she will visit relatives. Miss Marie Wester has returned home after a visit of two mouths to relatives in Ailihurn, Miss Ida Blackburn, of Need ham, ia the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Thigpen. Miss Louise Branham hits gone to her homo iu Atlanta, where she will spend the summer, returning to her school duties next fall. Mrs. K. It. Goodrich left Satur day for Liverpool, Ktigland, her old home,where she will visit rela tives and friends. After an enjoyable visit with Mr. and Mm. F. A. Bates, Mrs. J. 11. l.ongley lias returned to her home in Chrttauooga, Teiiu. Mrs. Clareuce Hlackshenr, of Quitman, has been spending a few days with the Misses Blackshear. on Gilmore street.
