Mr. R. G. Matthews, at present
trainmaster of the Second Divis
ion of the Plant System, head
-quarters at Wnycross, is slated for
tiie place of station master of the
New Union station. This is the
rumor that was in circulation yes
terday and though it could not be
verified there is no doubt that it
is true.—Savannah News.
Mr. Mathews has received notice
of his appointment to the posi
tion of station master in the new
union depot, in Savannuh, and
left this morning for St. Louis,
and other points, to investigate
and become familiar with ter
minals.
Mr. U. A. McUranie, it is un
derstood, will be appointed to
succeed Mr. Mathews. A promi
nent railroad official said yester
day thst Mr. McCranie was the
• best train master on the Plant
System, aud his appointment to
the second division was virtually
assured,
