The Glynn county grand jury
presentments contain the follow
ing in reference to Col. John W.
Dennett, who has just retired os
solicitor general of the Iirunswick
circuit, after thirteen years’ ser
vice :

The new cigar factory known ns
the Pittman Cigar Co., of which
Mr. A. R. Pittman is manager,
started work this morning. For
the present hut six cigar makers
arc employed. The factory is lo
cated in tile J. L. Walker building.

factory will manufacture five cent
cigars as follows: “Pittman Rest
Smoker,” Waycross Leader, ami
“Rluo Pearl,” a special brand. _
What Ailed Tommie.
Tommie was eating walnuts. His
mother cautioned him about eat
ing many, fearing they would
make him siek. Presently he came
in, his hand on his stomach and a
very distressed look in his face.
"Those nuts have- made yon
sick, I see. I just knew they
would,” said the mother.
“They haven’t, either,” whin
ed Tommie. “I am not sick; it's
just my pants are too tight.”—

What may develop into an oil
| well of large proportions is
j thought to exist on the canal, lic-
| tJroen Reed and Hicks streets, on
lnnd belonging to Judge J. S. Wil
liams. The oil is said to be flow
ing strong enough to be easily dis
tinguished, and parties are inves
tigating the matter this afternoon.
The surface of the water is thick
with oil, and it has an odor simi
lar to that of kerosene.
How tho Snow Comes Down.
In a Western home, Lynne, fonr
years old. was kneeling on the enr-
pot, before a low window, intently
watching the falling snow ns it
was rapidly covering the prairie.
He turned and said reverently:
