London, Oct 21—The limit of bu

the battle in Weat Flanders and the
fighting which Blackened yesterday
came to an almost complete atop.
There may hare been some minor in

points along the Dutch frontier de

These advices, it is believed, were
responsible tor the report that the
Germans had retired, having given up
their attempt to reach the channel

Germans Fall to Break Through.
The two armies have fought them
selves out temporarily and the Ger

which at best is a morass.
There is every evidence that the
Germans Intend to renew their at
tempt to force their way through to
Dunkirk. They are bringing up fresh
men and more ammunition and gone,
but at the same time are taking the
precaution to prepare a second line
for defense should their forward
movement again meet with defeat. The
new attempt, it la believed, will be
made further inland for the failure of
the first one was largely due to bom
bardment from British and French
warships off the coast. 1

that Germans have invaded Ingola, one

these night attacks near Craonne the

Along the Meuse the French are ad

Germans holding the latter place.

says Mrs. Sytvanla Woods, of Clifton Mills, Ky., In
writing of her experience with Cardul, the woman’s
tonic. She says further: "Before 1 began to use
Cardul, my back and head would hurt so bad, I
thought the pain would kill me. I was hardly able
to do any of my housework. After taking three bottles
of Cardul, I began to feel like a new woman. I noon
gained 35 pounds, and now, I do all my housework,
as well as run a big water mill.

and It always does me good."
Headache, backache, side ache, nervousness,

of Portugal's African possessions; that
there has been fighting on the borders
of the German and Belgian colonies;
and that the British and Germans have
been having more skirmishes.
Btill more serious, however is the
rebellion in South Africa, although
Premier Botha, who withheld news of
the rising led by Gens. Do Witt and
Boyers until he himself got info ac
tion, seems to have inflicted a severe
defeat on General Beyers, routing his
command and taking a number of pris
oners.
The Invasion of Ingola was not un
expected, for Portugal had declared
her Intention of helping tho allies, and
in view of the possibility of a German
attack on her colonies, had sent rein
forcements to her garrisons. Portugal
