but is caused by speculation.
Mass meetings have been called
in all counties throughout the

o'clock a. m., to consider the situ

La., Dec., 16, and will meet the

| A NEW INVENTION
A special from Eatonton to The
Macon Tetegraph, dated Dec. 8,
says the following about a Jasper
ite: Keeping abreast of the great
er Georgia spirit of prosperity and
the Eatonton Messenger slogan of
“Watch Eatonton Grow,” your
correspondent visited the plant of
the Eatonton Manufacturing Co.,
this week to inspect not only this
latest enterprise, but the manu
facture of a recent invention that
means much to the farmers of the
South.
~ The company has recently been
incorporated, with Mr, T. G.
'Greene, a leading business man of
this city, as president, and a pat
ent secured for the Howard Im.
proved Guano Distributor.
The plant, located on the line
of the Central Railway, is equip
ped with fine machinery, has on
hand a ten thousand dollar stock,
with a weekly output of three
hundred machines and the present
season’s output sold already.
If proper railroad facilities can
be secured the plant will be donb
led at an early date. ‘
While many guano distributors‘
are already in use over the South,
the one just patented by Mr, I
James Howard, a Georgian of Jas
per county, besides its practical
value means a saving in fertiliz
ers and labor, that will balance
accounts with boll weevil and
other losses in the cotton belt,
One distributor saves a plough
and laborer to the farmer during
planting season.
Mr, Howard's machine with its
many superiorities, is another evi
dence of Georgia pluck and energy
and shows that another Eli Whit
ney may yet be found in the bor
ders of tiie- Empire State of the
South.
SCHOOL FUND FOR 1905.
